Job title: Translator Company: International Mining Development Project Area: Dornogobi, Mongolia - 14/14 roster

Contract Length: Until October 2028

Main Purpose:

The purpose of this position is to provide accurate and timely translation and interpretation services between English, Chinese (Mandarin) and Mongolian in support of the construction management team. The Translator facilitates effective communication among employees, contractors, consultants, government authorities, and other stakeholders while ensuring the quality, consistency, and confidentiality of all translated and interpreted information.

Main Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provide translation and interpretation services in English, Chinese (Mandarin) and Mongolian, and vice versa.
  • Accurately translate technical, administrative, commercial, legal, HR, and other business-related documents and correspondence.
  • Provide interpretation services during meetings, workshops, training sessions, site visits, and other project-related activities
  • Review, edit, proofread, and verify translated documents to ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality.
  • Consult with internal clients and technical specialists regarding industry-specific terminology and maintain consistency in translated materials.
  • Conduct terminology research and maintain translation references and glossaries.
  • Ensure translation assignments are completed within agreed deadlines and communicate any anticipated delays
  • Assist with the preparation, translation, and organization of reports, presentations, meeting minutes, other departmental documentation and regulations
  • Maintain organized electronic and physical records of translated documents.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all technical, operational, commercial, financial, legal, and human resources information obtained during the course of work.
  • Protect confidential data, results, studies, reports, contracts, employee records, recruitment information, compensation data, disciplinary matters, and other sensitive company information.
  • Refrain from disclosing, copying, or sharing confidential information with unauthorized persons during or post employment.
  • Ensure all translated documents, meeting discussions, and communications are handled in accordance with company confidentiality and information security requirements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in Chinese (Mandarin) language study or linguistics required
  • Technical translation capability – ability to understand technical, mining, legal, contract and administrative context to ensure effective translation
  • A strong background in documentation and report writing
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality issues within department, company, Group
  • Ability to make a translation in front of audience
  • 2-5 years of Chinese (Mandarin), English and Mongolian technical translation, interpreting and proofreading experience including writing skills, spelling and grammar as well as verbal communication skills
  • Fluency in Mongolian language and good command, written and spoken in English is mandatory.
  • Familiarity with office software (MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, etc.);
