School of the Arts for Boys Academy (SABA)

Volunteer/Classified Application

Job Description

MISSION

School of the Arts for Boys Academy (SABA) empowers and BUILDs culturally and linguistically diverse boys to be strong, creative academic scholars, critical thinkers, and community leaders through a culturally responsive arts-based education.

SABA Policy Code 5100: School Volunteers

SABA recognizes the valuable contributions that school volunteers make to the learning process and the educational goals of the school system. Instructional programs are enhanced through the contributions of students’ parents, community members, and local business and industry. These volunteers contribute time, resources, and expertise that assist the school system to reach the goal of providing a sound basic education to all children.

The Head of School will develop and implement plans and procedures for utilizing school volunteers. The Head of School is responsible for implementing and supervising school volunteer programs. School volunteer programs must provide the following:

  1. Adequate screening of volunteers based upon the amount of contact they will have with students; all volunteer applicants, with the exception of volunteer coaches, are required to complete an online volunteer application and receive clearance from the Human Resources Division before beginning work at SABA as a volunteer. If a volunteer coach wishes to return the next year, a criminal background check and authorization from the Human Resources Division is required in order to continue. Volunteer coaches who wish to resume coaching after a break in service of one year or more are required to complete the full application/approval process.
  2. All SABA volunteers will undergo a criminal background check; additionally, applicants who wish to serve as volunteers are required to complete a Classified Employee application/approval process through SABA. If a volunteer wishes to return the following year, a criminal background check will be required to continue their volunteer service.
  3. The requirement that volunteers comply with policy 5100, Visitors to the Schools; Volunteer candidates will be notified during the application process that information collected by school officials will be maintained in a volunteer file that is available for review by the candidate and may be shared with others in limited circumstances as required or permitted by law. Volunteers who are referred through other agencies are subject to screening requirements consistent with this regulation.
  4. Reasonable supervision of volunteers based at least in part upon the amount of contact they will have with students; and
  5. Adequate training of volunteers, including familiarizing volunteers with applicable laws, board policies, administrative procedures, and school rules.

All school volunteers are expected to be professional and dependable in their volunteer activities. SABA will not accept volunteers from anyone listed on the NC SBE state revoked license list, here: https://stateboard.ncpublicschools.gov/legal-affairs/disciplinaryprocess/revoked-license.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
