Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic, committed and talented Class Teacher to join our dedicated ARB team and contribute to our shared vision of helping every child to Shine Brightly.
This is a full-time, fixed-term maternity cover position until 31 August 2027 or the return of the substantive postholder, whichever is sooner.
We are looking for a passionate and reflective practitioner who is committed to delivering high-quality teaching and learning, raising aspirations and ensuring that every child is supported to achieve their full potential, both academically and personally.
The successful candidate will bring creativity, energy and enthusiasm to the classroom, alongside a strong commitment to inclusion, wellbeing and creating a positive learning environment where every child feels valued and can flourish.
The ARB Class Teacher / Deputy SENDCO (Maternity Cover) role may attract an SEN1 allowance, subject to confirmation.
Joining Beacon Academy means becoming part of Kernow Learning, a multi-academy trust of 21 primary schools across Cornwall. Through collaboration, innovation and shared expertise, we support our schools to provide exceptional education and opportunities for every child. Beyond our schools, our English Hub and Teaching School Hub work with schools across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly to strengthen teaching, learning and leadership.
Our school and nursery provides education for children aged 3 to 11, with an Area Resource Base for pupils from the age of 4. We hope children will join us from the age of 3, when they can enjoy our fantastic outdoor Nursery, and then thrive through each year group up to Year 6. At the end of Year 6, we say goodbye to confident, well-rounded young people as they move on to secondary school, equipped with the skills they need for the next stage of their education and their longer-term futures.
We have three key values at Beacon Academy: Be Brilliant, Be Brave, Believe. These work in partnership with our Trust Core Shared Values and our Trust philosophy of ‘work hard, be honest & help others’.
Our school values underpin everything we do. We want every child and every member of our community to hold these values close and, through them, to Shine Brightly.
If you share our belief that every child deserves the very best educational opportunities, have a genuine passion for teaching and can bring warmth, care and a sense of fun to school life, we would love to hear from you.
As well as great schools to work in, wonderful children to work with and fantastic colleagues to work alongside, our Trust is committed to providing colleagues with benefits that make employment with Kernow Learning the best it can be.
We offer:
A competitive salary and membership of the Teachers’ Pension Scheme. A real commitment to wellbeing, including access to 24/7 wellbeing services and an employee assistance programme. Access to discounts with national and local retailers and service providers. A range of CPD and training opportunities, both internally and externally, with opportunities to learn from local and national speakers and specialists to support your professional growth. The support, knowledge and skills of our networks of colleagues across our schools and Shared Services teams.
Safeguarding and inclusion
Kernow Learning is committed to safeguarding the welfare of children and follows safer recruitment practices.
The successful candidate will be expected to share this commitment and will be required to undertake appropriate pre-employment checks, including an enhanced DBS check, as well as prohibition, Section 128 and social media/online presence checks, where applicable to the role.
We are committed to equality, diversity and inclusion and welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates. If you require any part of the application pack in an alternative format or require reasonable adjustments during the recruitment process, please contact us and we will be happy to discuss your needs.
Unfortunately, Kernow Learning is not a sponsoring organisation for overseas candidates. The successful candidate will therefore need to have the right to work in the UK or be able to secure the right to work in the UK independently.
