The posting

Engineering Support Specialist (Day Shift)

This is an opportunity to join the Manufacturing Test Infrastructure team on day shift in Pullman, WA. Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:30am–3:00pm.

The Manufacturing Test Infrastructure team builds test stations, fixtures, and cabling used to perform electrical tests on SEL products. As Manufacturing expands, we are growing our capacity and establishing dedicated flow lines for high-demand test stations.

In this role, you will build, verify, deliver, and maintain test systems, with opportunities to help improve how we build them. It’s hands-on, detail-driven work that rewards clean, careful craftsmanship. Together, we’ll apply World Class Manufacturing principles to solve problems and improve the build.

Why This Work Matters

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories exists to make electric power safer, more reliable, and more economical. Every SEL product is tested before it ships, and the test systems this team builds are what make that testing possible. Well-built, reliable test systems keep product quality high across every factory we support.

As Manufacturing expands, dependable test infrastructure helps new and existing factories meet growing demand.

A Typical Day Might Include:

  • Building test stations, fixtures, and cable assemblies—routing, terminating, and soldering wire and cable with an emphasis on neatness, correctness, and care.
  • Reading and working from electrical and mechanical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams to build assets correctly the first time.
  • Supporting, maintaining, and troubleshooting test infrastructure to keep production test systems running.
  • Following department processes and quality standards, and sharing ideas to improve documentation and work instructions.
  • Working with teammates to solve problems, reduce waste, and improve safety, quality, and the flow of work.
  • Following and applying SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.

This Job Might Be For You If:

  • You have relevant experience building things with your hands and take pride in doing it well
  • You can read and work from electrical and mechanical drawings, or are eager to learn
  • You work carefully and pay close attention to detail and quality
  • You enjoy solving problems and working with others to improve how work gets done
  • You can learn new skills and take on new responsibilities
  • You communicate clearly and work well on a team

This position also requires background check results satisfactory to SEL and a negative drug test result.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
