We are looking for an experienced Platform Operations Engineer to maintain, support and enhance critical on-premises infrastructure and platforms for government digital projects. This role offers opportunities to work across virtualisation, infrastructure automation and platform modernisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and support on-premises infrastructure, including compute, storage, virtualisation and supporting systems across development, staging and production environments.
  • Manage VMware, Hyper-V and virtualisation platforms, ensuring optimal performance, capacity planning and system availability.
  • Provide L2/L3 technical support, troubleshooting infrastructure incidents, performing root cause analysis, patching and system maintenance.
  • Implement infrastructure automation, monitoring and configuration management using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and modern operational practices.
  • Support backup, disaster recovery, high availability, security compliance and infrastructure modernisation initiatives, collaborating with technical teams and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience in on-premises infrastructure operations, including server administration, compute, storage and enterprise infrastructure support.
  • Strong knowledge of virtualisation technologies such as VMware, vSphere, ESXi or Hyper-V, including provisioning, performance monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Experience in Windows/Linux server administration, infrastructure patching, incident management and L2/L3 technical support.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure automation and monitoring tools such as Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell, Prometheus, Grafana or ELK Stack.
  • Knowledge of backup, disaster recovery, high availability and infrastructure security practices. Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes or OpenShift is advantageous.
