At Scopely, we care deeply about what we do and want to inspire play every day - whether in our work environments alongside our talented colleagues or through our deep connections with our communities of players. We are a global team of game lovers who are developing, publishing and innovating the mobile games industry, connecting millions of people around the world daily.

MONOPOLY GO! is a global phenomenon and the biggest mobile game launch in history, captivating millions of players worldwide.

What You Will Do

In this Principal UX Design role, you work in close partnership with our product and development teams to create new gameplay experiences for players.

  • Own the end-to-end UX strategy and execution for a product area, driving initiatives independently from discovery through implementation
  • Identify opportunities to improve the player experience through product thinking, player insights and data
  • Lead discovery initiatives to deepen our understanding of player behaviors, motivations and opportunities
  • Drive ideation of new concepts, facilitating workshops, brainstorming sessions, conceptual designs and prototypes to validate ideas early
  • Create innovative player experiences while balancing creativity with product goals, technical constraints and production realities
  • Help evolve UX frameworks, principles and design patterns that promote consistency, scalability and high-quality player experiences across the game
  • Champion user research as an essential part of the UX process, partnering with Research to identify risks, define learning objectives and translate findings into product decisions
  • Deliver high-quality designs, prototypes and documentation that clearly communicate the intended player experience to Product, Engineering and Art
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships, proactively driving alignment and helping teams navigate ambiguity to reach the best player-focused solutions
  • Contribute to the growth of the UX discipline by sharing knowledge, raising quality standards and helping build a collaborative design culture

What We’re Looking For

  • 8+ years of experience designing user experiences for games
  • Proven track record of creating impactful gameplay features with deep expertise in game mechanics, player motivations, progression systems, rewards and player psychology
  • Strong product thinking, with the ability to balance player needs, business goals and technical constraints when making design decisions
  • Experience independently owning complex product areas and driving work forward
  • Expertise creating prototypes to validate ideas, identify risks early and iterate quickly
  • Ability to seamlessly move between tactical execution and strategic thinking, ensuring day-to-day design decisions support broader product goals
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to challenge assumptions constructively, influence decisions through collaboration and build alignment across disciplines
  • Highly collaborative designer who proactively shares ideas, seeks feedback and contributes positively to team culture
  • Strong communication, diplomacy and relationship building skills, with the ability to navigate disagreements professionally while keeping player experience at the center of decision making
  • Comfortable working in ambiguity, proactively identifying opportunities and taking ownership to move initiatives forward
  • Passion for mentoring, raising craft quality and contributing to the continuous improvement of the UX discipline

Bonus Points

  • Expanded opportunity for candidates with experience directly managing or mentoring UX designers, with the ability to support individual growth while leading by example through strong hands-on design craft

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
