Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced CIO / Fund Manager for a Category III Alternative Investment Fund (AIF). The incumbent will be responsible for managing public market investments, demonstrating a proven track record of portfolio performance, and contributing to the fund’s growth and success. The role requires strategic oversight of investment portfolios, risk management, and delivering strong risk-adjusted returns aligned with the fund’s objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement investment strategies for the Category III AIF, focusing on either long-only or long-short equity strategies.
  • Manage and oversee the fund’s portfolio, ensuring optimal asset allocation and adherence to investment mandates.
  • Conduct detailed market analysis, identify investment opportunities, and execute trades to generate alpha.
  • Monitor portfolio performance, analyze risk metrics, and adjust strategies to optimize risk-adjusted returns.
  • Lead and mentor the investment team, fostering a disciplined investment process and best practices.
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and internal risk management policies.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years of experience in public market investments and fund management.
  • Proven track record of delivering strong portfolio performance and generating alpha.
  • Deep understanding of equity markets, portfolio management, and risk management.
  • Experience with investment strategies including long-only and long-short approaches.
  • Strong analytical skills, strategic thinking, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Educational qualifications such as BTech, BSc, MBA, CFA, or equivalent.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Hands-on experience in AIFs, PMSs, AMCs, or wealth management firms.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience managing low-return strategies is not preferred.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong network within the investment community.
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks related to AIFs and fund management.

Experience

  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in fund management, with a focus on public markets.
  • Demonstrated success in managing large, complex portfolios with a focus on equity investments.

Environment

  • The role may be based in an office setting or hybrid, depending on company policies.
  • Requires a professional environment with access to market data, research tools, and collaboration with investment teams.
  • The position involves high-level strategic decision-making and risk oversight.
