Senior Cost Accountant | Manufacturing Finance

## Company Overview Mochiko Group, founded in 2007, is the largest sports footwear manufacturing company in India, with FY25-26 revenue of approximately 1350 crores and over 13,000 employees. Headquartered in Gurugram, the company operates fully integrated, end-to-end production facilities in Dehradun, Rishikesh, and Noida. Mochiko manufactures for leading global brands including Adidas, Reebok, Puma, Skechers, New Balance, Decathlon, Asics, Crocs, and US Polo. In 2023, Mochiko Group was acquired by Agilitas Sports, a Bengaluru-based sportswear startup founded by former Puma executives.

## Job Summary The Senior Cost Accountant will lead the cost and manufacturing finance functions across Mochiko’s production facilities. The role is responsible for end-to-end product costing, plant cost control, zero-based budgeting, and gross-margin and inventory governance at a group level. The incumbent will collaborate closely with plant operations, supply chain, and corporate finance teams to drive cost transparency, margin improvement, and disciplined inventory management, supporting the company’s strategic growth and operational efficiency.

## Responsibilities - Product Costing & Cost Accounting - Own standard costing, Bill of Materials (BOM) costing, and routing-based cost build-up across all product lines and SKUs. - Establish, maintain, and periodically revise standard costs; analyze variances (material, labor, overhead) and implement corrective actions with plant teams. - Compute and validate costs of production, Cost of Goods Sold (COGS), and per-unit/per-pair costs across manufacturing facilities. - Ensure accurate overhead absorption, activity-based cost allocation, and cost-center accounting.

  • ERP / Production Module Ownership
  • Act as the finance owner of the ERP Production/Manufacturing module (e.g., SAP / SAP B1 PP or equivalent), managing production orders, BOM, routing, work-center rates, and order settlement.
  • Ensure correct postings of material consumption, Work-In-Progress (WIP), by-products, scrap, and production confirmations; reconcile production outputs with financial records.
  • Collaborate with operations and IT teams to improve costing master data, cost-roll processes, and reporting accuracy.
  • Zero-Based Budgeting (ZBB) & Cost Control
  • Lead the zero-based budgeting process for manufacturing and overhead cost centers, building budgets from activity drivers rather than prior-year baselines.
  • Challenge and justify every cost line, identify, and execute cost-optimization and waste-elimination initiatives across plants.
  • Monitor budget vs. actual performance, flag overruns, and enforce cost-control discipline with department heads.
  • Gross Margin Control (Group Level)
  • Own gross-margin analysis at group, plant, product, and customer levels, identifying margin leakages and driving improvement initiatives.
  • Provide pre- and post-costing analysis for new products, price revisions, make-vs-buy decisions, and capacity utilization.
  • Develop margin bridges (volume, price, mix, cost) to explain movements to management and the board.
  • MIS, Reporting & Compliance
  • Prepare cost Management Information System (MIS), cost audit records, and management dashboards; ensure timely and accurate monthly cost reporting.
  • Support statutory cost audits, internal audits, and compliance under the Companies (Cost Records and Audit) Rules.
  • Partner with Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and controllership teams on month-end close, provisioning, and management reviews.

## Qualifications - Educational Qualification: Qualified Cost and Management Accountant (CMA - ICMAI) — mandatory. - Experience: Minimum 10+ years of post-qualification experience in cost and manufacturing finance, with significant exposure to manufacturing plant environments. - Technical Skills: - Hands-on experience with ERP Production / Costing modules (SAP PP / SAP B1 or equivalent). - Proven expertise in zero-based budgeting, standard costing, gross-margin control, and inventory governance. - Experience operating across multiple plants or within a group structure. - Strong Excel modeling skills and familiarity with ERP systems and data consolidation. - Knowledge of Business Intelligence (BI) tools such as Power BI or Tableau is a plus. - Soft Skills: - Strong business partnering, communication, and stakeholder management skills. - High attention to detail, analytical mindset, and effective cross-departmental communication.

## Preferred Skills - Experience in footwear, leather, apparel, or FMCG/consumer manufacturing sectors. - Exposure to cost audit, lean manufacturing, Kaizen cost initiatives, and capacity/utilization modeling. - Familiarity with multi-location stock audits and working capital management. - Knowledge of lean manufacturing or Six Sigma concepts is advantageous.

## Experience - Over 10 years of relevant experience in cost accounting, manufacturing finance, and plant operations, preferably within a group or multi-plant environment.

## Environment - The role is plant-based, located in Noida (Uttar Pradesh) or Dehradun (Uttarakhand). - The work environment involves collaboration with plant operations, supply chain, and corporate finance teams. - The position requires active engagement in a manufacturing setting, with a focus on operational and financial discipline.

## Salary - Salary range not specified; to be discussed based on experience and qualifications.

(Note: Salary details can be provided upon further discussion.)

## Growth Opportunities - Potential career advancement into senior leadership roles within finance, operations, or strategic management. - Opportunities to lead cross-functional initiatives and contribute to company-wide cost optimization and growth strategies.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
