About the Role

Lightrock is seeking an experienced Taxation Manager to manage its end-to-end tax function in India. The ideal candidate will be a Chartered Accountant with strong expertise in both direct and indirect taxation, along with experience in handling tax operations for Private Equity, Asset Management, or fund-related structures.

You will work closely with senior leadership and external consultants to ensure smooth, compliant, and efficient tax operations for the firm’s India business. This role will initially report to the Partner, and subsequently to the CFO.

Key Responsibilities

1. Manage and oversee direct and indirect tax operations (approx. 50:50 split).

2. Handle tax compliance, assessments, appeals, and litigation.

3. Ensure accurate and timely filing of tax returns and payments.

4. Provide strategic tax advisory and planning support to the business and leadership teams.

5. Liaise with auditors, consultants, and tax authorities as required.

6. Develop and implement efficient tax structures and strategies to support business growth.

Requirements

1. CA qualified with 5+ years of experience in taxation.

2. Strong understanding of direct and indirect tax laws and compliance frameworks.

3. Experience in Private Equity / Asset Management / Fund taxation preferred.

4. Candidates from Big 4 firms who have handled PE or fund clients are strongly considered.

5. Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
