Experienced Automotive Service Advisor

Scranton Chevrolet of Norwich | Norwich, CT Full-Time | $60,000–$85,000+ Earning Potential Hiring Now

You're Already a Service Advisor. The Question Is: Are You at the Right Dealership?

If you know how to run a service lane, build customer trust, communicate effectively with technicians, and turn recommendations into completed work, we want to talk to you.

Scranton Chevrolet of Norwich is looking for an experienced Automotive Service Advisor to join our busy Service Department.

We're specifically interested in automotive professionals who understand that being a great Service Advisor is about more than writing repair orders.

It's about owning the customer experience from write-up through vehicle delivery, building long-term relationships, maximizing legitimate service opportunities, and keeping the entire repair process moving.

If you've built your career in automotive service and are looking for a dealership where your experience, performance, and ideas will be valued, this could be your next long-term home.

Why Make a Move to Scranton Chevrolet?

Experienced Service Advisors have options.

We know changing dealerships isn't a decision you make lightly.

That's why we're focused on providing our advisors with the technology, resources, earning opportunity, and support needed to perform at a high level.

You'll have access to tools including:

  • Tablets and modern service-lane technology
  • Customer video communication
  • Electronic repair quoting and approvals
  • Electronic bill payment
  • Customer financing options
  • GM programs and incentives
  • Established dealership systems and processes
  • A busy Service Department with opportunities to build your book of business
  • Management that values performance, accountability, and customer relationships

Our goal is simple: give talented Service Advisors the tools they need to succeed.

Family-Owned & Operated Since 1952

There's something different about working for a dealership where the family's name is on the building.

The Scranton family has been serving Connecticut drivers since 1952.

More than 70 years later, we're still family-owned and operated, now under our third generation of family leadership.

That longevity comes from building relationships—with our customers and with the people who work here.

We're large enough to provide the technology, benefits, resources, and earning opportunities experienced automotive professionals expect, while maintaining the accessibility and personal environment of a family-owned dealership.

You won't be just another employee number here.

What You'll Own

As a Service Advisor, you'll take ownership of the customer's service experience from arrival through completion.

You'll:

  • Greet customers and establish a professional, trustworthy relationship
  • Listen carefully to vehicle concerns and accurately document customer needs
  • Open, manage, and close repair orders
  • Review vehicle history and identify appropriate maintenance opportunities
  • Explain technician findings and recommended repairs clearly
  • Present repair and maintenance recommendations professionally and confidently
  • Prepare and communicate accurate estimates
  • Obtain customer authorization for recommended work
  • Keep customers informed regarding repair status, costs, and expected completion
  • Utilize digital tools, videos, texting, and electronic estimates to improve customer communication
  • Coordinate closely with technicians, dispatch, parts, and Service Management
  • Help maintain efficient workflow throughout the Service Department
  • Monitor repair progress and proactively address delays or concerns
  • Assist customers with warranty, maintenance, and manufacturer-related questions
  • Maintain accurate documentation and dealership records
  • Follow GM and dealership processes and requirements
  • Maintain strong customer satisfaction and CSI performance
  • Build relationships that create repeat and referral service business
  • Work toward individual and departmental performance objectives

We're Looking for an Automotive Professional

This position is designed for someone who already understands the automotive service environment and wants to take the next step in their career.

Our ideal candidate has:

  • Previous automotive Service Advisor / Service Writer experience
  • Strong understanding of dealership service operations
  • Experience managing repair orders from write-up through completion
  • Knowledge of automotive maintenance and repair terminology
  • Ability to confidently explain technician recommendations to customers
  • Strong customer communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to balance customer satisfaction with dealership performance
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple active repair orders simultaneously
  • Comfort working in a busy, fast-paced service environment
  • Strong follow-through and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively with technicians, Parts, Management, and other departments
  • A professional, customer-first approach
  • Valid driver's license

GM & Reynolds Experience Is a Major Plus

Experience with General Motors dealerships and/or Reynolds & Reynolds is highly desirable.

If you already understand GM processes, warranty procedures, maintenance schedules, manufacturer programs, or Reynolds & Reynolds workflows, we especially want to hear from you.

What Success Looks Like Here

Our strongest Service Advisors know how to balance three things:

Take care of the customer. Take care of the technician. Take care of the business.

That means providing customers with honest, understandable information so they can make informed decisions about their vehicles.

It means communicating effectively with technicians so work moves efficiently through the shop.

And it means recognizing legitimate maintenance and repair opportunities instead of simply processing repair orders.

We want advisors who take pride in their CSI, customer retention, repair-order performance, communication, and reputation.

Technology That Helps You Sell Service

A talented advisor shouldn't have to fight outdated processes to take care of customers.

Scranton Chevrolet provides tools designed to make communication easier and the service experience more transparent, including:

  • Digital multipoint inspection and customer communication tools
  • Technician/customer videos
  • Electronic estimates and repair approvals
  • Text-based customer communication
  • Electronic payment options
  • Customer financing solutions
  • GM incentive and bonus programs
  • Modern dealership technology

These tools help you communicate value, build customer trust, improve approvals, and keep repair orders moving.

Compensation & Benefits

Expected earning potential: $60,000–$85,000+ per year

Compensation is performance-driven and provides experienced advisors with the opportunity to be rewarded for strong results.

We also offer:

  • Medical insurance
  • Dental insurance
  • Vision insurance
  • Life insurance
  • 401(k)
  • Paid time off
  • Employee discounts
  • Ongoing manufacturer and dealership training
  • GM programs and incentives
  • Career advancement opportunities

We should talk.

Maybe You're Not Looking—But You're Open to the Right Opportunity

If you're looking for:

Better tools. Strong earning potential. A busy service operation. A respected GM dealership. Long-term stability. A family-owned environment. And an opportunity to grow.

Scranton Chevrolet of Norwich may be worth a conversation.

  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing
