A note from your hiring manager

Howdy, I’m JJ https://www.linkedin.com/in/jjnasca/, Scribe’s Head of Legal!

I spend my days making sure that Scribe’s legal and contracting processes unlock revenue rather than block it, and I’m looking for the person who can support this mission at the speed our business moves. You’ll be our first in-house legal hire, so you’ll shape how we negotiate, what our playbooks say and the systems that let Scribe scale, not just work a queue someone else built or oversees. We take the work seriously but not ourselves, and I think the best colleagues still have time for hobbies and families (and the occasional unread Slack!).

I’m invested in making sure you grow your expertise and your career with the function the whole way. Come do the best work of your career with me!

About the role

As Scribe’s first Contracts Manager, you’ll own contracting end-to-end across the business, including sales, procurement, partnerships and marketing. That means negotiating commercial, AI, privacy and security terms with global enterprises and regulated buyers while you build and scale Scribe’s contracting processes and automations. We’re looking for a curious and clever builder that is a master of the tactical and will be an in-the-room strategic partner to our got-to-market teams.

What you’ll do

- Own the full contracting queue from intake to signature, finding the win-win so deals close and quarter-end goals never slips because of Legal.

- Negotiate MSAs, DPAs, AI Addenda, BAAs and order forms directly with customer counsel, privacy, procurement and security teams. You hold or trade positions credibly and responsibly, bringing only true exceptions to the Head of Legal.

- Create and ship playbooks, contracting collateral and measurable process improvements like NDAs and standard templates (co-marketing, assignments, pre-approved order form terms) becoming fully self-serve.

- Architect and launch structured contracting systems, like intake and triage that automates initial contract review and drafting.

- Build a post-signature compliance program so every commitment made at signature is met by contract participants.

- Develop the data and analysis framework that reduces contracting cycles, increases capacity, and unlocks revenue.

What we’re looking for

- You’ve spent 5+ years negotiating SaaS sell-side and vendor agreements on a global scale at a growing SaaS/tech, including enterprise-level (e.g., Fortune 500) MSAs, DPAs and security/AI addenda worked directly with customer counsel.

- You’re fluent in prevailing data protection and security frameworks like GDPR, CCPA, the EU AI Act and SOC 2-type security terms, and you learn a product’s data flows well enough to defend them.

- You’ve gotten into the ring with counterparties, but maintained steady professionalism to leave it with mutual respect and a deal.

- You make sound risk calls on your own, can explain the reasoning behind every position to customer counsel and to an AE alike, and treat Sales as a partner.

- You use AI and agentic tools hands-on every day, know Salesforce, and always look for the next thing to automate, scale and improve.

Nice to have

- A JD, experience as a paralegal in a high-volume practice or fast-paced technology company or CIPP certification(s).

- You’ve selected or rolled out a CLM (Ironclad or similar), or a custom solution using tools at your disposal.

- Public sector experience and experience with reseller and partnership models and agreements.

- You’ve been a first legal hire or worked in an early-stage legal function.

Why you’ll love working here

- As the first in-house legal hire and owner of Scribe’s contracting function, you’ll interface with all levels of the business and decide how Scribe negotiates, what our playbooks say and which systems we build. That’s real ownership and decision-making authority from day one.

- The scope is particularly broad because our product is AI-native, which paired with Scribe’s product and revenue growth positions you for significant career growth.

- You’ll be a material part of Scribe’s revenue engine and instrumental in building a world-class commercial legal function globally at scale.

At Scribe, we celebrate our differences and are committed to creating a workplace where all employees feel supported and empowered to do their best work. Scribe is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
