Job Summary We are looking for a hands-on and forward-thinking engineering expert with strong mechanical design experience and good understanding of medium-voltage applications. The role focuses on improving engineering quality and efficiency through advanced design methodologies, Model-Based Definition (MBD), and practical AI-assisted engineering solutions. The successful candidate is expected to bring new ideas, challenge existing practices, and turn technical opportunities into tangible improvements. Key Responsibilities Mechanical Design & Engineering Excellence Provide technical expertise in mechanical design for MV products, particularly sheet metal, plastic, welding, machined parts and electromechanical assemblies. Promote robust design practices, including functional dimensioning, ISO-GPS/GD&T, tolerance analysis and DFM/DFA. Support design reviews, identify engineering weaknesses, and develop practical design rules, guidelines and reusable methodologies. MBD & Advanced CAD Engineering Drive MBD development and pilot implementation, moving from drawing-centric practices toward structured 3D engineering definitions. Explore advanced Creo capabilities, including semantic PMI, GD&T Advisor, ModelCHECK and engineering automation. Develop MBD authoring guidelines, model quality criteria and validation methods. Investigate end-to-end reuse of engineering information from Creo/Windchill to downstream applications such as CQCS, FAIR and inspection planning. AI-Assisted Engineering & Automation Identify opportunities to apply AI and automation in mechanical design, CAD modeling, drawing review, engineering knowledge and data processing. Explore and implement practical solutions using AI tools, scripting, APIs and CAD automation capabilities. Develop or contribute to proof-of-concept solutions, validate technical feasibility and demonstrate measurable engineering benefits. Collaborate with Digital Engineering and technology partners to evaluate and integrate new capabilities. Qualifications & Requirements Education & Experience Bachelor's degree or above in Mechanical, Electromechanical or Mechatronics Engineering. 7+ years of hands-on mechanical design experience, preferably in MV switchgear or related electrical equipment. Solid understanding of product development, manufacturing processes and engineering quality requirements. Technical Skills Strong mechanical design expertise, particularly in sheet metal, electromechanical assemblies, GD&T, ISO-GPS and DFM/DFA. Advanced proficiency in PTC Creo and working knowledge of Windchill. Good understanding of MBD principles, 3D PMI and their applications in engineering and manufacturing. Knowledge of AI applications in engineering, with practical experience or demonstrated capability in engineering automation. Experience with Python, Creo Toolkit, APIs, CAD automation or MBD implementation is a strong advantage. Personal Competencies Strong engineering judgment and problem-solving skills. Independent thinking, technical curiosity and willingness to challenge existing practices. Hands-on mindset, able to translate ideas into practical and validated solutions. Proactive, self-driven and capable of taking ownership of technical initiatives.
