Job Title: Natural Resources Programs Coordinator Job Summary:The Natural Resources Programs Coordinator reports to the General Manager of Sealaska’s Natural Resources Department and assists in advancing various program goals for the department, including maintaining and updating program guidelines and rules and contributing to development of funding strategies, philanthropic initiatives, and emerging economic opportunities. The role is the primary writer for funding proposals and is responsible for tracking and reporting project progress in close coordination with project managers. The NR Programs Coordinator will ensure compliance with funding requirements and rules, as well as overseeing the department’s field safety protocols. A key function of the role will be to support collaborative efforts in alignment with objectives of Sealaska Corporation focused on land stewardship and economic growth in communities of Southeast Alaska. The role will be based in Sealaska’s office located in Ketchikan, AK. The role will be hybrid with a mutually agreed upon amount of both in-office presence and remote telework. Duties/Responsibilities:•    Maintain a catalog of Natural Resources Department program guidelines, rules, and multi-year plans, including Sealaska’s field safety program.•    Responsible for implementation and enhancement of Sealaska’s field safety protocols; includes management of safety equipment and organizing annual safety training for department staff.•    Support programmatic strategic planning with the Natural Resources Department team and key partners.•    Identify upcoming grant and philanthropic opportunities and maintain a grants calendar.•    Prepare and submit written proposals for federal, state, philanthropic, and competitive bid opportunities.•    Ensure grant compliance with organizational policies, legal requirements, and donor restrictions.•    Track and monitor active project progress for internal programmatic reporting and performance reporting to funding organizations.•    Works with the Sealaska Finance Department staff to track grant expenditures and review budgets against approved funding allocations.•    Serve as a primary point of contact for key project partners.•    Supports organizing field site visits and events to promote awareness of Sealaska’s land management mission and vision.•    Build and maintain positive relationships with funding organizations and community partners.•    Document creation regarding contracts and agreements with partner organizations, service providers, and funding entities.•    Assists in preparation of resource management plan documents for Sealaska lands.•    Occasional travel for events and site visits.•    Other duties as assigned.  Required Skills/Abilities: •    Knowledge of federal, state, and typical philanthropic rules and requirements.•    Familiar with a variety of federal, state, and philanthropic programs supporting private landowners.•    Familiar with the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act; the function of Alaska Native Corporations and Tribal governments in the Southeast Alaska region.•    Ability to meet and coordinate the varying work demands of natural resources professional and technical experts.•    Ability to organize, direct, and carry out document production and records maintenance.•    Proficient with MS Office suite and data entry. •    Ability to interact diplomatically with Sealaska shareholders, visiting professionals, and the general public. •    Ability to perform independent research and read and interpret laws, regulations, technical reports.•    Possess an advanced level of communication, reasoning, problem solving and interpersonal skills necessary to perform essential functions of the job.•    Excellent report writing and grant writing skills.•    Excellent organizational and planning skills with attention to detail.•    Ability to work in a team setting.•    Ability to organize events and meetings.  Education and Experience:•    Bachelor’s degree preferred, not required.•    5 or more years grant administration experience. Work Environment: This position will be occasionally required to work outdoors of a wet and temperate climate, and at times may include walking and hiking several miles while carrying equipment weighing approximately 30 lbs.
