Job Summary

We are seeking qualified Consultant and Specialist Clinical Microbiologists with recognized Western specialist qualifications to join leading healthcare facilities across the UAE. The ideal candidates should have extensive expertise in clinical microbiology, infectious disease diagnostics, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, and infection prevention and control.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and interpret clinical microbiology investigations, including bacterial, viral, fungal, and parasitic testing.
  • Analyse culture results, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, and molecular diagnostic findings.
  • Identify and investigate pathogens responsible for healthcare-associated and community-acquired infections.
  • Provide expert guidance on antimicrobial selection and resistance patterns.
  • Support antimicrobial stewardship programmes and promote appropriate antibiotic use.
  • Advise clinical teams on the diagnosis and management of complex infections.
  • Monitor emerging antimicrobial resistance and recommend appropriate control measures.
  • Oversee laboratory testing procedures, quality assurance, and diagnostic accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory accreditation and international quality standards.
  • Support infection prevention and control programmes and outbreak investigations.
  • Collaborate with infectious disease physicians, pathologists, intensivists, and other clinical specialists.

Requirements

  • MBBS / MBChB or equivalent recognized medical qualification, where required for the specialist pathway.
  • Recognized Western specialist qualification in Clinical Microbiology or Medical Microbiology, such as UK CCT, FRCPath, FRCPA, or an equivalent recognized qualification.
  • Relevant post-specialization clinical experience.
  • Current or previous registration with the relevant Western medical authority, as applicable.
  • Strong expertise in clinical microbiology, diagnostic testing, antimicrobial resistance, and infection control.
  • Eligibility for Specialist or Consultant licensing under the relevant UAE healthcare authority requirements.
