The posting

SecureSpace Management LLC is seeking a resourceful, results-driven Transition Manager to lead the operational onboarding of new acquisitions and ground-up developments. This role is equal parts field operator and project manager, requiring someone as effective conducting hands-on site assessments across multiple states as they are maintaining structured project plans and driving cross-functional accountability from the road.

This is a high-impact, detail-intensive role and demands someone who is systems-minded and organized. Projects are complex, multi-layered, and run concurrently; success depends on structured thinking, thorough documentation, and the ability to keep things moving with limited supervision from initial planning through handoff to Store Operations.

SecureSpace Management LLC provides training on company-specific systems and processes, but candidates are expected to bring proven project management skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently within established policies and standards.

Responsibilities:

Transition Management & Project Execution

• Own assigned projects from pre-transition planning through execution, stabilization, and handoff to Store Operations.

• Develop and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, task tracking, risk assessments, and status reporting; proactively identify and resolve roadblocks before they affect timelines.

• Manage multiple complex projects simultaneously, maintaining structure, organization, and momentum even while managing frequent travel and onsite responsibilities.

• Drive accountability through documented action items, clear ownership, and consistent follow-through; make sound decisions within established authority and escalate when leadership input is required.

Field Operations & Property Readiness

• Conduct thorough onsite visits and hands-on assessments, personally evaluating physical conditions, operational systems, access control, equipment, technology, signage, and customer-facing operations against company standards.

• Physically verify unit inventory, facility layouts, and property readiness; document findings with precision and identify discrepancies between actual conditions and project plans.

• Assess operational and safety risks firsthand; develop clear, actionable recommendations and escalate critical concerns to leadership as appropriate.

• Independently investigate onsite challenges, gather relevant information, and coordinate with internal teams and external partners to resolve outstanding issues before opening or takeover.

Cross-Functional Leadership & Communication

• Partner with Acquisitions, Development, Facilities, IT, Accounting, HR, Marketing, and Store Operations to drive transition milestones.

• Lead kickoff meetings and transition reviews; drive accountability across departments, field teams, and vendors through proactive follow-through.

• Serve as the central coordination point for assigned projects; communicate progress, risks, and key decisions to leadership.

Operational Systems, Compliance & Quality Control

• Coordinate onboarding of property management systems, access control, network infrastructure, utilities, and vendors; verify systems are installed and functioning to standard.

• Ensure all transition activities align with SecureSpace policies, safety requirements, and compliance standards; maintain accurate project documentation and handoff records.

Process Improvement & Innovation

• Identify opportunities to improve transition workflows; develop and refine checklists, SOPs, and tracking tools that support scalable growth.

• Lead operational handoffs to Store Operations and conduct training on transition procedures and company standards.

Other Functions:

• Travel to work sites as needed; work extended hours or weekends based on business needs.

• Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Project Management, or a related field.

• Minimum 5 years of experience in operations management, project management, multi-site operations, field operations, or a related discipline.

• Proven critical thinking and problem-solving skills; ability to assess incomplete information, prioritize risks, and determine appropriate next steps.

• Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail; demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex, concurrent projects through structured systems and documentation.

• Effective communicator across all levels including field teams, vendors, and senior leadership, with the ability to keep projects moving and stakeholders informed while managing frequent travel.

• Comfortable performing hands-on field assessments and working independently at unfamiliar locations; this role requires regular physical presence onsite across multiple states.

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office suite; ability to quickly learn new platforms and operational systems.

• Willingness and ability to travel approximately 50% of the year, including overnight and occasional short-notice travel.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to travel by car and/or plane for extended periods as required.

• Ability to move throughout storage facilities, including indoor and outdoor areas, to conduct inspections and verify site conditions.

• Ability to position oneself to inspect storage units, equipment, and operational areas and operate roll-up storage doors.

• Ability to occasionally move or restock inventory weighing up to 50 pounds.

• Ability to recognize and report potential maintenance, operational, fire, and safety concerns.

• Ability to perform prolonged computer-based work.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in self-storage, commercial real estate, property management, multi-site retail, hospitality, or facilities management.

• Experience supporting new location openings, property acquisitions, or operational integrations.

• Familiarity with property management software, access control systems, or operational technology.

• Experience with project management platforms such as Asana, Smartsheet, Monday.com, or similar tools.

Travel & Work Environment:

• Frequent travel across multiple states, estimated at approximately 50% of the year, including multi-day onsite assignments and overnight stays.

• Expected to independently manage onsite activities and coordinate effectively with remote teams and leadership.

• Work encompasses a mix of project management, office responsibilities, field inspections, and hands-on operational assessments; flexibility for extended hours or occasional weekends based on business needs.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
