Segal McCambridge, a nationally recognized litigation firm, is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join a national asbestos defense practice. This is an exceptional opportunity for an attorney with asbestos defense experience to work alongside a sophisticated, trial-focused team handling complex litigation across the country.

This position is fully remote or may be based in any of Segal McCambridge’s offices. We are looking for an attorney who is ready to take on meaningful responsibility, collaborate with a national team, and play an important role in both day-to-day case management and high-stakes trial preparation.

The Opportunity

As a member of Segal McCambridge’s National Asbestos Defense Practice, you will work with attorneys across the firm on a diverse portfolio of asbestos and toxic tort matters. You will serve as local counsel and national counsel, depending on the matter, while also supporting Segal McCambridge’s national trial team.

This role offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated litigation from case inception through trial, with substantial client contact and hands-on responsibility.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage and defend asbestos and toxic tort litigation in jurisdictions throughout the country
  • Work as local counsel and national counsel on complex asbestos matters
  • Draft pleadings, discovery responses, dispositive motions, briefs, and other substantive legal filings
  • Take and defend fact and expert depositions
  • Develop case strategy and manage discovery
  • Communicate directly with clients, insurers, co-counsel, and opposing counsel
  • Attend court conferences, hearings, mediations, and settlement negotiations
  • Assist Segal McCambridge’s national trial team with trial strategy, preparation, and execution
  • Participate in trials and other significant litigation proceedings as appropriate
  • Collaborate with experienced attorneys across Segal McCambridge’s national practice

What We’re Looking For

  • Licensed attorney in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
  • Asbestos defense experience required
  • 4+ years of litigation experience preferred, although candidates with strong relevant experience will be considered
  • Experience with toxic tort, product liability, premises liability, or other complex litigation is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated experience with motion practice, discovery, depositions, and case management
  • Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a national team
  • Excellent organization, judgment, and communication skills
  • A proactive, client-focused approach and a genuine interest in complex litigation and trial work
  • Additional state bar admissions are a plus, particularly in jurisdictions where Segal McCambridge handles significant asbestos litigation

Why Join Segal McCambridge?

At Segal McCambridge, you will have the resources and reach of a national litigation firm while working closely with experienced attorneys who are committed to developing the next generation of trial lawyers.

This is more than a case-management role. You will have the opportunity to work directly on significant asbestos litigation, contribute to national trial strategy, develop your courtroom skills, and build a long-term career within a sophisticated national practice.

We offer:

  • Fully remote work or the option to work from any Segal McCambridge office
  • Target salary range of $120,000–$175,000, commensurate with experience
  • Performance-based bonus opportunities
  • Meaningful mentorship and opportunities for advancement
  • Business development support and opportunities to build your practice
  • National collaboration and exposure to sophisticated litigation
  • A collegial, engaged, and trial-focused firm culture
  • Ongoing CLE and professional development opportunities

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
