The posting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Deposition Coverage Attorney based in the United States.

We are seeking an experienced attorney to provide deposition coverage and litigation support for complex civil litigation matters, with a primary focus on asbestos and silica cases. In this part-time, fully remote role, you will represent clients during depositions, conduct witness examinations, and prepare detailed reports that inform litigation strategy and case development. You will work collaboratively with litigation teams to analyze testimony, identify key issues involving liability, causation, and damages, and recommend appropriate follow-up actions. Depending on your experience, jurisdiction, and business needs, additional opportunities may include court appearances, hearings, and other litigation assignments. This Of Counsel opportunity offers flexible scheduling, competitive hourly compensation, and the ability to contribute your legal expertise to sophisticated litigation matters while maintaining professional independence.

Accountabilities:

  • Attend and defend asbestos and silica depositions on behalf of clients, ensuring professional representation and effective management of deposition proceedings.
  • Conduct witness examinations as appropriate, using strong litigation skills to obtain relevant testimony and clarify key factual issues.
  • Prepare clear, accurate, comprehensive, and timely deposition summaries and reports that support case assessment and litigation planning.
  • Analyze deposition testimony to identify significant liability, causation, damages, and other issues relevant to the defense of complex civil litigation matters.
  • Communicate deposition findings, case developments, and recommended follow-up actions to the appropriate litigation teams.
  • Coordinate with attorneys and case teams regarding deposition strategy, witness testimony, evidentiary considerations, and potential implications for ongoing litigation.
  • Maintain detailed and organized documentation of deposition proceedings and ensure all reporting requirements and deadlines are met.
  • Provide additional litigation support, including court appearances, hearings, and related assignments, based on professional experience, jurisdictional authorization, and business needs.
  • Exercise independent legal judgment while maintaining professional standards, client confidentiality, and a client-focused approach.
  • Adapt to varying deposition schedules and case requirements while delivering consistent, high-quality legal services in a remote working environment.
  • Active license to practice law in at least one of the following U.S. jurisdictions: California, Illinois, Missouri, New York, or Pennsylvania.
  • Prior deposition experience is required, including the ability to participate effectively in deposition proceedings and prepare substantive deposition reports.
  • Experience in asbestos litigation, silica litigation, toxic torts, product liability, or other complex civil litigation matters is strongly preferred.
  • Defense-side deposition experience is highly desirable, particularly involving corporate defendants, complex liability issues, or toxic tort claims.
  • Strong understanding of deposition procedures, litigation strategy, witness examination techniques, and the preparation of deposition summaries.
  • Excellent legal research, analytical, and writing skills, with the ability to identify material facts and communicate complex testimony clearly and concisely.
  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with witnesses, opposing counsel, clients, and litigation teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound legal judgment, and manage assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with a proven ability to meet reporting deadlines and manage competing priorities.
  • A professional, client-focused demeanor and commitment to maintaining confidentiality, ethical standards, and high-quality legal work.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment and accommodate deposition assignments according to scheduling requirements.
  • Willingness to accept additional court appearances, hearings, and litigation support assignments when available and appropriate to your experience and jurisdiction.
  • Competitive hourly compensation: $65–$95 USD per hour, depending on jurisdiction, experience, and assignment requirements.
  • Flexible scheduling: Part-time assignments that offer flexibility around deposition coverage needs and professional availability.
  • Remote work: Fully remote position, allowing you to perform eligible assignments without a regular office-based work arrangement.
  • Of Counsel designation: An opportunity to contribute specialized legal expertise in a professional litigation practice.
  • Additional earning opportunities: Potential access to court appearances, hearings, and other litigation support assignments, depending on experience, jurisdiction, and business needs.
  • Complex litigation exposure: Opportunities to work on asbestos, silica, toxic tort, product liability, and other sophisticated civil litigation matters.
  • Professional collaboration: Work with litigation teams on deposition strategy, case analysis, and litigation support.
  • Part-time flexibility: An opportunity for attorneys seeking high-quality legal assignments while maintaining other professional commitments.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
