Job Type: Full-Time | Outside Sales & Healthcare Business Development

Compensation: Competitive base salary plus performance-based incentives and commission

Build Relationships. Grow a Business. Make a Difference.

Are you a relationship builder who enjoys connecting with healthcare professionals, developing new business, and making a meaningful difference in the lives of older adults?

Do you have a background in nursing, social work, therapy, healthcare, or outside sales? Are you someone who enjoys getting out into the community, opening doors, building trust, and turning professional relationships into business opportunities?

If so, we'd love to meet you!

Senior Helpers is seeking a motivated, outgoing, and results-driven Community Relations & Business Development Manager to help grow our presence throughout the Twin Cities.

We're looking for more than a salesperson. We want someone who understands the importance of building genuine relationships, providing value to referral partners, and helping families find the right care for their loved ones.

This is an active, outside business development position—not a desk job where you wait for referrals to come to you.

About Senior Helpers

Senior Helpers is a nationally recognized leader in professional in-home senior care, dedicated to helping older adults remain safe, independent, and comfortable in their own homes.

Our locally owned and operated Twin Cities offices provide personalized home care services, including companionship, personal care, specialized dementia and Parkinson's care, and support for individuals transitioning home from hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and other healthcare settings.

We're a growing organization with a strong commitment to exceptional care, specialized caregiver training, and developing meaningful relationships throughout the healthcare community.

We believe the strongest referral partnerships are built on trust, education, responsiveness, and a genuine desire to help the individuals and families we serve.

What Makes This Opportunity Different?

At Senior Helpers, you'll have more than a brochure and a business card.

We offer a variety of specialized programs, educational resources, and flexible care solutions that give our business development team meaningful opportunities to engage healthcare professionals and provide value to our referral partners.

These include:

Second Wind Dreams Virtual Dementia Tour® - Only one in the area (last we were told!)

Our Center of Excellence, aka Aunt Milly's Place, incorporates the Second Wind Dreams Virtual Dementia Tour as part of our specialized dementia training and community education efforts. This immersive experience helps participants better understand some of the challenges faced by individuals living with dementia.

You'll have the opportunity to introduce this unique educational resource to healthcare professionals, senior living communities, and referral partners, creating meaningful conversations about dementia care and the importance of specialized caregiver training.

RN Educational Series

Our nursing team provides educational presentations (UTI, Preventing Falls, etc.) on important topics affecting older adults, their families, and the professionals who care for them. You'll help coordinate these educational opportunities with healthcare organizations, senior living communities, and other referral partners.

FlexHome – Flexible In-Home Care Solutions

Our FlexHome program provides flexible care options for individuals who need shorter visits or targeted assistance rather than traditional, extended home care shifts. This gives our referral partners additional options when helping families find the right level of support at home.

Specialized Care Programs & Community Resources

From dementia and Parkinson's care to personalized assistance with daily activities, we offer a variety of programs designed to meet the changing needs of older adults and their families.

These resources allow you to do more than simply ask for referrals. They give you opportunities to educate, engage, build trust, and become a valued resource within the healthcare community.

We are VA approved so we also are able to service Veterans who live in our area!

What You'll Be Doing

As our Community Relations & Business Development Manager, you'll be the face of Senior Helpers throughout the Twin Cities healthcare and senior services community.

Your primary responsibility will be to develop and strengthen referral relationships that generate new client opportunities and contribute to the continued growth of our organization.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Proactively develop and maintain referral relationships with hospital discharge planners, social workers, case managers, physicians, nurses, therapists, rehabilitation facilities, senior living communities, hospice providers, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities through in-person visits, professional networking, community events, presentations, and consistent follow-up.
  • Introduce and coordinate educational opportunities, including our Virtual Dementia Tour, RN Educational Series, FlexHome program, and other specialized care resources.
  • Educate referral partners and families about Senior Helpers' services and how our programs can support older adults in their homes.
  • Develop new referral relationships while strengthening and expanding existing partnerships.
  • Work closely with our leadership, intake, and care teams to help convert qualified referrals into new clients.
  • Represent Senior Helpers at healthcare meetings, senior resource fairs, networking events, and other community activities.
  • Develop and execute a strategic outreach plan for your assigned territory.
  • Maintain accurate records of referral activity, professional relationships, follow-up efforts, and new business opportunities.
  • Meet established business development goals and contribute to the continued growth of our Twin Cities operations.

Who We're Looking For

Our ideal candidate is a motivated, personable professional who enjoys meeting new people, building relationships, and creating opportunities.

We are particularly interested in candidates who combine a healthcare background with demonstrated sales, outreach, or business development experience.

You may be an excellent fit if you have experience as a:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) interested in transitioning into a business development or community relations role.
  • Social worker, case manager, discharge planner, or care coordinator with sales or outreach experience.
  • Physical therapist, occupational therapist, or other healthcare professional who enjoys networking and developing professional relationships.
  • Healthcare liaison, community relations director, or business development professional.
  • Home care, home health, hospice, senior living, or other healthcare sales professional with a proven ability to generate new business.

Healthcare experience is highly desirable, but we will also consider exceptional outside sales professionals who demonstrate strong relationship-building skills and a genuine passion for serving older adults.

Required Qualifications

  • Demonstrated success in outside sales, business development, professional outreach, or referral relationship management.
  • Proven ability to proactively develop new relationships and generate business rather than relying primarily on inbound leads.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, and follow-up skills.
  • Confidence engaging with healthcare professionals, community leaders, and families.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to independently manage multiple relationships and opportunities.
  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and comfortable being accountable for measurable results.
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and willingness to travel throughout the assigned Twin Cities territory.
  • Comfortable using CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and other business technology.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in home care, home health, hospice, senior living, rehabilitation, or other healthcare-related industries.
  • Background in nursing, social work, therapy, care management, or a related healthcare profession.
  • Established relationships with healthcare professionals and referral partners throughout the Twin Cities.
  • Experience delivering educational presentations to healthcare professionals or community groups.
  • Familiarity with private-pay home care, senior care services, dementia care, Guide or care transitions.

Compensation & Benefits

We believe talented professionals deserve competitive compensation, meaningful benefits, and the opportunity to be rewarded for their success.

Our compensation package includes:

  • Competitive base salary based on qualifications and experience.
  • Performance-based incentives and commission opportunities.
  • Health insurance benefits.
  • Additional employer-paid supplemental health benefits plan at no cost to the employee.
  • Paid time off.
  • Professional development and training opportunities.
  • Supportive, locally owned business environment with direct access to company leadership.
  • Opportunity to play a meaningful role in the continued growth of our Twin Cities operations.

What Success Looks Like

We want someone who takes ownership of their territory and enjoys the process of building a business.

Success in this role means developing a strong network of referral partners who know you, trust you, and think of Senior Helpers when someone needs care.

It means consistently creating new opportunities, maintaining relationships with existing referral sources, and helping turn those opportunities into new clients.

You'll work closely with our leadership and care teams to ensure families receive timely, professional service from their first conversation through the start of care.

We value initiative, creativity, accountability, and results—but we also believe that the way you build relationships matters just as much as the business those relationships generate.

Why Join Senior Helpers?

At Senior Helpers, you won't simply be selling a service. You'll be helping families navigate some of the most important and challenging decisions they will ever face.

You'll have the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with healthcare professionals, educate the community, and connect older adults with services that can improve their quality of life.

You'll also be joining a locally owned, growing organization that invests in its people, values new ideas, and is committed to making a difference in the communities we serve.

If you're looking for a position where your relationships, initiative, and results truly matter, we'd love to hear from you.

Ready to Make an Impact?

If you're an experienced relationship builder who enjoys developing new business and wants to make a meaningful difference in the lives of seniors and their families, we encourage you to apply!

Please submit your resume along with a brief description of your experience developing professional relationships, generating referrals, or building new business.

We'd especially love to hear about a referral relationship or professional network you built from the ground up and how you turned those relationships into measurable results.

Join Senior Helpers and help more seniors receive the care they deserve in the place they call home!

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
