We are a growing team looking for a Commercial Operations Manager to join our Amsterdam office and be part of an international team keen to provide the highest level of service to our largest key customer. The role is based in Amsterdam and is 100% onsite.
WHAT YOU WILL DO …
Commercial Stakeholder Ownership
Build and strengthen relationships with operational contacts and senior decision makers, developing a deep understanding of the customer's business, needs, and long term objectives. Act as a trusted commercial partner who balances customer satisfaction with operational feasibility and profitability, confidently challenging the customer and internal stakeholders when needed. Own the commercial development of the account by identifying growth opportunities, leading negotiations, and developing solutions that create long-term value for both parties. Lead new business opportunities and tender processes end to end, coordinating internal stakeholders, gathering the required input, and developing competitive, commercially sound proposals.
Operational Excellence and Performance
Take hands-on ownership of the customer operations, ensuring high service levels, reliable execution, and effective follow-up on transport performance. Dive into operational and commercial data to identify performance gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities, translating insights into actionable plans and measurable results. Proactively address operational issues, challenge underperformance, and escalate when needed, coordinating internal stakeholders to resolve challenges and drive continuous improvement. Lead customer performance reviews, bringing structure to complex situations and ensuring clear priorities, accountability, and follow-through on agreed actions. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR …
Dutch fluency is required, alongside strong written and verbal communication skills in English. Additional languages are a plus. 3–5 years of experience in a dynamic customer-facing operational and/or commercial role. Logistics/supply chain industry experience is preferred, but a strong profile from outside the industry is very welcome. A hands-on mentality: you are comfortable diving into operational details, investigating issues, working with data, and taking ownership of getting things done. Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate data into clear conclusions, practical action plans, and measurable improvements. Commercial acumen and a long-term mindset: you understand how to build customer value, protect profitability, and identify opportunities to grow a strategic partnership. The confidence to challenge customers and internal stakeholders constructively, address difficult topics directly, and escalate when necessary. Proven relationship building skills and the ability to navigate different stakeholder levels, from operational contacts to senior decision makers. Experience coordinating complex commercial opportunities, negotiations, or tender processes is highly desirable. Strong prioritization and problem-solving skills, with the ability to stay structured and decisive in a dynamic environment.
