The posting

SEON is the command center for fraud prevention and AML compliance, helping thousands of companies worldwide stop fraud, reduce risk and protect revenue. Powered by 900+ real-time, first-party data signals, SEON enriches customer profiles, flags suspicious behavior and streamlines compliance workflows - all from one place. SEON provides richer data, more flexible and transparent analysis, and faster time to value than any other provider on the market. We’ve helped companies reduce fraud by 95% and achieve 32x ROI, and we’re growing fast, thanks to our partnerships with some of the world’s most ambitious digital brands like Revolut, Wise, and Bilt.

As a Software Engineer on the AML team, you’ll build and maintain the TypeScript applications and services behind SEON’s AML products. You’ll work closely with product managers to understand what customers actually need, turn requirements and customer requests (including those raised through NRQs) into well-scoped features, and ship them with quality, performance and security in mind. We want someone who asks “why”, flags gaps early and challenges solutions when something doesn’t add up. You are a continuous learner biased towards action. You take ownership of your work from scoping through delivery, and you help teammates grow.

This position is in Hungary, with the flexibility to work remote or hybrid.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

- Implement TypeScript features for our AML services (case management, business backends and person service), and our customer facing Admin Panel, making sound design choices for small features and considering performance and error handling as you build

- Contribute to design discussions with informed questions, and explain the reasoning behind design decisions in your team’s domain

- Scope your work independently, confirm with your PM and partners what “complete” means before you start, and raise issues with requirements early

- Consistently deliver high-quality code with simplicity, security, testability, performance, and scalability in focus, and with tests that make your code a good example for the team

- Maintain and develop client-side JavaScript libraries, the Node.js backend of AML Services and Nest.js / ExpressJS services

- Debug moderately complex issues independently using observability tools, find root causes rather than symptoms, and close the monitoring and alerting gaps you discover

- Write tests for the features you build, and design the testing approach for more complex features

- Fix issues reported by QA and customers based on discussed priorities

- Track implementation progress using company processes and software (github / jira)

- Review code written by the team with an eye on security, performance and quality, giving specific, constructive feedback that helps others grow

- Cooperate with your PM, the QA team, Architects and the Devops team on a continuous basis, and frame technical decisions in terms of customer outcomes.

- Contribute to planning and estimation.

- Improve CI/CD pipelines and development tooling for your team by removing bottlenecks, and keep pull requests small and reviewable

- Mentor junior teammates with structured intent

- Work with large datasets, such as screening and watchlist data, keeping them performant, accurate and auditable.

- Use AI-assisted development tools in your day-to-day work, and help us find where AI can improve our products and the way we build them.

- Help teammates adopt AI practices by sharing prompting patterns that work, and know when AI output needs heavy human review

WHAT YOU’ll BRING:

- Excellent problem-solving skills

- At least 3 years of experience in Software Development

- Good working knowledge JavaScript/Typescript and stable knowledge of HTML5/CSS3 and RESTful API development

- Ability to cooperate with team members in an Agile development environment

- Experience scoping and delivering features independently, from ambiguous requirements to validated work

- Experience debugging issues across services using observability tools

- Out-of-the-box thinking combined with the ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment

- Fluency in English

- Technical requirements:

- JavaScript, Typescript, React, Node and NestJS

- HTML5, CSS3 (Sass)

- PostgreSQL

AMAZING IF YOU ALSO HAVE:

- Experience with data heavy applications

- Experience working in a regulated industry, such as AML, KYC or financial services

- AWS

- Terraform

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
