The posting

The Evening Shift Technician Apprentice is a Casual Part-Time training role at Servco Toyota Honolulu designed for individuals pursuing an Associate's degree in Automotive Technology and seeking hands-on dealership service experience. The Apprentice works closely with the Evening Shift Supervisor and experienced technicians to develop practical automotive maintenance and repair skills while supporting the evening service shift. The role requires safe, quality-focused work, accurate repair-order documentation, disciplined completion of assigned work within the evening shift, and continuous development toward greater technical competency.

Work schedule will be Monday-Friday, 6:30 PM-10:00 PM, approximately 17.5 hours per week.

KEY OUTCOMES:

  • Complete assigned work safely, accurately, and within the scheduled evening shift; work may not be carried over to the day shift without supervisor direction and an approved exception.
  • Perform work only from valid repair orders (ROs) created by a Service Consultant before work begins.
  • Document work performed, findings, status, and any issue that affects completion, quality, or vehicle release.
  • Immediately escalate work beyond approved light-duty scope, training level, or demonstrated competency to the Evening Shift Supervisor.
  • Complete required quality-control checks and obtain required supervisory review on customer vehicles before release or handoff.
  • During the initial training phase, perform maintenance work on pre-owned vehicles to build proficiency within the approved work scope.
  • Participate actively in training, coaching, and performance feedback to develop technical skills, efficiency, safety awareness, and professional work habits.
  • Maintain workplace organization, proper tool/equipment handling, vehicle/key control, and a clean and safe work area.

Technical Work & Learning

  • Support and perform approved light-duty maintenance and repair work under direct supervision and in accordance with assigned training and demonstrated competency.
  • Learn and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), manufacturer/service procedures, shop processes, and mentor/supervisor direction.
  • Use tools, equipment, materials, and shop resources safely and responsibly; maintain proper care and condition of assigned equipment.
  • Participate in required training, coaching, hands-on demonstrations, and development activities.

Repair Order, Documentation & Handoff

  • Verify that a valid repair order is available before beginning customer or pre-owned vehicle work.
  • Record procedures performed, findings, parts or follow-up needs, incomplete items, and other required information accurately and on time.
  • Notify the Evening Shift Supervisor as soon as an assigned job may not be completed within the shift or requires work beyond approved scope.
  • Leave vehicles, keys, tools, parts, and documentation in the approved location and status for end-of-shift handoff.

Quality, Safety & Customer Vehicle Care

  • Follow all safety protocols, PPE requirements, equipment procedures, vehicle-lift practices, and facility rules.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the work area to support a safe, efficient, and professional environment.
  • Complete required quality-control steps and obtain required review before a customer vehicle is released or moved to final handoff status.
  • Exercise care in handling customer and company vehicles and promptly report damage, safety concerns, equipment issues, or other exceptions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Currently pursuing an Associate's degree in Automotive Technology.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Strong interest in the automotive technical field and willingness to learn new skills.
  • Basic knowledge of tools and equipment used in automotive technical operations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and follow instructions from supervisors and mentors.
  • Reliable and punctual, with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to safety guidelines and protocols.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
