Job Description

About the Team

The Futures Engineering team sits at the intersection of R&D, applied engineering, and thought leadership within ServiceNow Futures. We build "art of the possible" proofs of concept, run customer- and partner-facing workshops and POCs, and produce technical and strategic collateral that shapes how the market sees ServiceNow as an innovation-driven, futures-forward company. The team operates in an Agile/Scrum model and is made up of Product Managers and Software Engineers.

Purpose of the Role

Interface with internal and external stakeholders and customers to develop proofs of concept, applications, and thought leadership collateral. Understand the evolving business and technology landscape — and where ServiceNow fits within it — to conduct research and development on new applications of the ServiceNow platform and on how emerging technologies will shape the ServiceNow ecosystem going forward.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer & Partner Engagement: Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders to understand business and technical challenges, gather requirements, and manage end-to-end projects: engagement management, architecture, design, testing, blueprints/collateral and delivery/handoff. Work in partnership with and Innovation Officers/Futurists, Software Engineers and account teams
  • R&D and Applied Research: Lead research initiatives into novel technologies and business trends, evaluating their implications for the ServiceNow platform and ecosystem; translate findings into actionable product and strategic insight
  • Thought Leadership & Publishing: Author and publish thought leadership papers, white papers, and technical collateral, grounded in original research, that spark customer/partner and industry imagination and position ServiceNow as an innovation leader. Represent the team's research externally through articles, presentations, conferences and industry commentary
  • Proofs of Concept: Architect and lead customer-facing and internal proofs of concept demonstrating "art of the possible" applications of the ServiceNow platform, in partnership with Software Engineers and Innovation Officers/Futurists
  • Workshops & Futures Engagements: Plan and lead workshops with customers and partners to translate research and PoC work into interactive engagements that build conviction and drive roadmap influence for ServiceNow Futures and the AI Institute
  • Market & Competitive Research: Participate in market research and competitive analysis in partnership Futurists/IOs, STEP and other orgs
  • Framework and Programs: Develop operational programs and frameworks to run programs within ServiceNow Futures based on iterative pilots of new ways of working for Futures and AI Institute work. Contribute to portfolio management, solution design, and requirements definition

What Success Looks Like

Successful members of this team have a genuine passion for researching and experimenting with new technologies, building PoCs on the ServiceNow platform, and telling compelling stories about how ServiceNow enable business transformation and take advantage of novel industry technologies. They operate effectively in distributed teams spanning company functions, customers, and partners, and they document their work carefully so hand-offs to other teams are seamless.

Who You'll Influence

  • APEX and DT Product Managers and Developers; internal stakeholders across Corporate Strategy, Marketing, Sales, others in conjunction with others in ServiceNow Futures
  • Customer and partner architects, developers, and business process owners
  • Industry peers in comparable innovation/futures functions
  • Account teams and other field functions

Qualifications

Our ideal candidate

  • 7+ years experience in customer-facing roles (within or outside the tech industry)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with demonstrated experience creating and delivering thought leadership content — webinars, white papers, published articles, conference presentations, and customer workshops
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodology and working in a distributed team
  • ServiceNow platform experience preferred
  • Deep business and industry acumen, with the ability to translate market and technology trends into fact-based recommendations
  • Track record of original research, writing, or academic/industry publishing is a strong plus
  • Autonomy to select tools, platforms, and approaches for design and development within DT/ServiceNow technology guidelines
  • Experience mentoring peers

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
