The posting

[What the role is]

As end users become more discerning, design is no longer confined to a single product, space or interface. It is holistic, connected and experiential.

We are looking for a designer with a strong background in Industrial Design or Product Design who is passionate about shaping meaningful experiences across products, services, spaces and interactions. You see products not as isolated artefacts, but as touchpoints within a broader user journey and ecosystem.

[What you will be working on]

In this role, you will shape the next generation of experience designers through teaching, curriculum development, student mentorship, industry collaboration and applied projects. You will bring an Industrial and Product Design lens to the Diploma in Experience Design, helping students understand how human-centred design, product innovation, emerging technologies and systems thinking come together to create cohesive and impactful experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct lessons and develop curriculum, learning resources and assessments in experience design, design research, human-centred design, design thinking, ideation, visualisation, prototyping and design development.
  • Bring Industrial and Product Design expertise into multidisciplinary learning experiences, helping students understand products as part of broader customer and user experiences.
  • Provide thought leadership and domain expertise in Industrial and Product Design within the broader Experience Design curriculum.
  • Mentor and supervise students through industry projects, exhibitions, competitions and multidisciplinary collaborations involving products, services, spaces and digital experiences.
  • Guide students in applying user-centred design principles, ergonomics, product development methodologies, materials and manufacturing knowledge within an experience design context.
  • Lead or support industry collaborations, consultancy projects and applied research initiatives related to experience design, product innovation and emerging technologies.
  • Keep curriculum and learning experiences current through developments in AI-assisted ideation, sustainable product systems, circular design, service-product ecosystems and emerging manufacturing technologies.
  • Build and sustain strategic industry partnerships to support applied projects, internships, consultancy opportunities, CET initiatives and graduate employability.
  • Support course management, academic administration, student recruitment, outreach activities and school-wide strategic initiatives.
  • Develop, deliver and support Continuing Education and Training (CET) programmes and industry capability development initiatives related to experience design, product innovation and emerging design practices.

[What we are looking for]

  • Relevant qualification in Industrial Design, Product Design or a related discipline, with at least 5 years of relevant industry experience preferred.
  • Strong industry portfolio demonstrating successful product innovation, human-centred design and project delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience in design research, concept generation, prototyping, testing and product development.
  • Good understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, ergonomics and product development methodologies.
  • Ability to work across disciplines and contribute to projects integrating products, services, spaces and digital technologies into cohesive user experiences.
  • Strong appreciation of sustainability, inclusive design and emerging technologies.
  • Passion for education, mentoring and nurturing the next generation of designers.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation and project management skills.
  • Experience in teaching, mentoring, training or leading design teams will be an advantage.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.
