Job Description

Role

Information Quality is currently seeking an experienced Business Analyst / Tester with ALIM experience to support a major Owner Operator within the Energy and Resources sector.

This role will work closely with business stakeholders, IT teams and application support resources to understand and clarify business requirements, coordinate and undertake testing activities and support the ongoing enhancement, upgrade and effective operation of the ALIM environment.

The successful applicant will bring a combination of strong business analysis capability, structured testing experience and functional knowledge of ALIM. You will act as an important link between business and technical teams, helping to translate operational requirements into clearly defined work items and supporting the successful delivery of application enhancements, fixes, upgrades and releases.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional who enjoys working across both businesses and technical environments and contributing to the ongoing improvement of enterprise information management systems and processes.

Role accountabilities

  • Work closely with business stakeholders, IT teams and application support resources to understand, analyse and document business and functional requirements.
  • Facilitate discussions with stakeholders to clarify business needs, system requirements, priorities and expected outcomes.
  • Translate business requirements into clearly defined functional requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria and work items.
  • Support the planning, prioritisation and delivery of work items within established release and sprint cycles.
  • Work collaboratively with business and technical teams throughout the software development and application support lifecycle.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate business analysis and testing documentation.
  • Review proposed system changes and enhancements to assess business impacts, functional requirements and testing needs.
  • Develop test plans, test scenarios, test cases and supporting test documentation.
  • Coordinate and undertake functional, regression, integration and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Work with business stakeholders to plan, coordinate and support UAT activities.
  • Document, track and manage defects and issues identified throughout the testing lifecycle.
  • Assist with the investigation of application issues and defects, working collaboratively with relevant business and technical resources.
  • Undertake validation and retesting of fixes to confirm successful resolution and ensure existing functionality has not been adversely impacted.
  • Support ALIM application enhancements, upgrades, releases and deployment activities.
  • Assist with release readiness activities and post-deployment validation and support.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders, external vendors and application support teams to facilitate the timely delivery of system enhancements, fixes and improvements.
  • Monitor outstanding actions, issues and deliverables and assist with their progression through to resolution.
  • Provide functional support and guidance to users in relation to ALIM functionality and associated business processes.
  • Assist users with the investigation and resolution of functional application issues.
  • Identify opportunities to improve system functionality, business processes, testing practices and the overall user experience.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of system documentation, business processes, work instructions and user guidance materials.
  • Support knowledge sharing and the effective transfer of information between business, technical and application support teams.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders across different business functions and levels of the organisation.

Work independently while contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary and collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience working in a Business Analyst, Functional Analyst, Test Analyst or combined Business Analyst / Tester role.
  • Good functional knowledge and practical experience working with ALIM.
  • Strong experience in business requirements gathering, analysis and documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into clear functional requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Experience developing test strategies, test plans, test scenarios and test cases.
  • Practical experience undertaking functional, regression, integration and User Acceptance Testing.
  • Experience coordinating UAT activities with business stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience in defect identification, documentation, investigation, tracking and resolution.
  • Experience supporting enterprise application enhancements, upgrades, releases and deployments.
  • Understanding of software development, application support and release management lifecycles.
  • Experience working within sprint, release or Agile delivery environments.
  • Strong analytical, investigation and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to understand complex business processes and identify the relationship between business requirements and system functionality.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliverables.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership of assigned activities and progress work through to completion.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary business and technical teams.
  • Experience within the Oil & Gas, Mining, Energy or Resources sectors will be highly regarded.
  • Experience supporting enterprise Asset Information Management, Engineering Information Management or Engineering Data Management systems will be highly regarded.
