Job Description
Job Summary
The Ultrasound/Diagnostic Technologist at Shriners Hospitals for Children performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations and various other diagnostic imaging procedures to assist physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of pediatric orthopedic and burn conditions. This role requires technical expertise, patient-centered care, and adherence to radiation safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintains and monitors quality assessment practices and procedures to ensure appropriate and proper patient care
- Performs other operational functions, in support of assigned department to ensure quality services
- Accurately interprets oral and written requests stated in radiologic and medical terms
- Notifies imaging Manager of equipment malfunction and obtains necessary repairs.
- Assesses patients needs prior to performance of examination.
- Consistent review of prior imaging studies before starting an imaging exam.
- Directs questions, regarding appropriateness of an ultrasound request to the Imaging Manager, Radiologist or staff physician.
- Operates and performs ultrasound exams independently according to physician’s orders
- Assists in maintaining imaging files to ensure easy irretrievability in a timely manner.
- Assists in the preparation of images for interpretation and imaging reports for image file jackets.
- Assists in the copy request for Shriners Hospital images and images received from outside medical facilities.
- Monitors assigned quality assessment activities and recording of data in the designated binder as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
- CPR certification or the ability to complete within three months of hire
- Two years related Ultrasound work experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Pediatric Experience

Compensation is determined based on years of relevant experience and departmental equity.
