Are you passionate about building secure, scalable infrastructure and driving automation in mission-critical environments? We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join Sigma Software and contribute to a challenging DefenceTech project focused on cloud resilience and operational reliability.

You will become part of a high-performing DevOps team of more than 30 specialists working with modern AWS infrastructure, Kubernetes environments, and Infrastructure as Code practices. This is a hybrid position based in Lviv.

CUSTOMER

Our Customer is a fast-growing Ukrainian DefenceTech company delivering innovative technology solutions for the defense and security domain. The team brings together experienced professionals from leading Ukrainian IT companies to work on highly important and mission-critical initiatives.

PROJECT

The project focuses on building resilient, secure, and scalable cloud infrastructure with a strong emphasis on backup strategies, disaster recovery, operational reliability, and infrastructure standardization. The environment includes AWS multi-account architecture, Kubernetes-based platforms, and Infrastructure as Code implemented with Terraform.

As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will design and improve enterprise-grade backup and recovery solutions, automate operational workflows, validate recovery procedures against real RTO/RPO metrics, and contribute to strengthening the security and resilience of cloud infrastructure.

Job Description

  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable AWS-based infrastructure across multi-account environments
  • Develop and support Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform modules and reusable configurations
  • Configure and standardize backup and disaster recovery processes for cloud services and SaaS platforms
  • Implement secure backup strategies including cross-account replication, encryption, Object Lock (WORM), and isolated backup environments
  • Perform restore testing for databases and critical systems and validate real RTO/RPO indicators
  • Create and maintain operational documentation, runbooks, and technical procedures in English
  • Automate infrastructure and operational processes using Bash and/or Python
  • Manage and support Kubernetes clusters and Helm deployments
  • Monitor backup jobs and infrastructure reliability and configure alerting mechanisms
  • Collaborate with internal DevOps teams through merge request workflows and infrastructure reviews
  • Assess and improve cloud infrastructure resilience and security posture

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of commercial experience in DevOps, Cloud Infrastructure, or Site Reliability Engineering
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS services including Organizations, IAM, S3, RDS, AWS Backup, KMS, and EKS
  • Deep understanding of AWS multi-account architecture and cloud security best practices
  • Production-level experience with Terraform including modules, remote state management, and multi-environment deployments
  • Strong practical experience with Kubernetes and Helm
  • Solid Linux administration skills
  • Experience with automation and scripting using Bash and/or Python
  • Proven experience implementing backup and disaster recovery strategies in production environments
  • Hands-on experience performing production data restoration and validating RTO/RPO metrics
  • Experience writing technical documentation and operational runbooks in English
  • Understanding of cloud security principles and infrastructure resilience practices
  • At least an Intermediate level of English

WILL BE A PLUS

  • Experience with GitLab APIs, export, and repository mirroring
  • Experience with SaaS backup solutions
  • Experience backing up Microsoft 365 environments
  • Familiarity with security-focused or high-availability infrastructure environments
  • Experience working in DefenceTech or other mission-critical domains
