We are seeking a hands-on Ecommerce Quality Engineer II to help deliver reliable, high-quality digital shopping experiences across web, mobile, APIs, and integrated commerce platforms. In this role, you will design and execute comprehensive tests, expand automation coverage, investigate defects, and partner with engineering teams to validate customer journeys from product discovery through checkout and post-purchase experiences. This role combines strong functional testing, technical problem-solving, and automation engineering. You will contribute to quality strategy, improve test efficiency, and help teams release ecommerce capabilities with confidence.

Key Responsibilities

Own Ecommerce Quality & Test Execution

  • Develop and execute functional, integration, regression, exploratory, and end-to-end tests for ecommerce web and mobile experiences.
  • Validate customer journeys including search, product detail, cart, promotions, checkout, payment, order confirmation, and account management.
  • Translate business requirements, designs, and acceptance criteria into risk-based test scenarios and traceable test cases.
  • Identify, document, prioritize, and verify defects while communicating product-quality risks clearly.

Build Test Automation & Technical Validation

  • Develop and maintain automated tests for user interfaces, APIs, and critical ecommerce workflows using modern open-source frameworks.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI pipelines and analyze failures to provide timely, actionable feedback.
  • Perform API validation using REST clients and automation libraries, including request, response, schema, and negative-path testing.
  • Use SQL, logs, browser developer tools, and service diagnostics to validate data and troubleshoot issues across systems.

Platform Quality & Release Readiness

  • Validate integrations among storefront, product, inventory, pricing, promotions, payment, fulfillment, and order-management services.
  • Assess cross-browser, responsive, accessibility, and basic performance behavior for customer-facing experiences.
  • Support release-readiness assessments by reporting test progress, coverage, defects, dependencies, and residual risk.
  • Monitor production and lower-environment signals to identify quality issues and improve regression coverage.

Test Data, Environments & Risk Management

  • Prepare and maintain reusable test data for customer, product, inventory, promotion, payment, and order scenarios.
  • Confirm test environments and dependent services are ready, stable, and correctly configured before execution.
  • Protect sensitive data and follow established security, privacy, and compliance practices throughout testing.

Cross-Team Collaboration

  • Partner with product managers, developers, designers, architects, operations, and other quality engineers throughout delivery.
  • Participate in refinement, design reviews, sprint planning, defect triage, demos, and retrospectives.
  • Share testing knowledge, review automation contributions, and support consistent quality practices across the team.

Documentation & Continuous Improvement

  • Maintain test plans, test cases, automation documentation, execution evidence, and quality reports.
  • Track defects, enhancements, and quality metrics through Jira and document reusable knowledge in Confluence.
  • Recommend improvements that reduce repetitive testing, shorten feedback cycles, and prevent escaped defects.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in software quality engineering, test automation, or a related discipline.
  • Hands-on experience testing e-commerce or other customer-facing web and mobile applications.
  • Strong knowledge of functional, integration, regression, exploratory, and end-to-end testing practices.
  • Experience with SQL, Git, CI pipelines, defect management, and Agile delivery practices.
  • Knowledge with UI and API automation using tools such as Selenium, Cypress, Playwright, Postman, or REST Assured.
  • knowledge of Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or another automation-focused programming language.
  • undefined

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in retail or ecommerce domains, including product, pricing, promotion, cart, checkout, payment, or order workflows. Familiarity with platforms such as SAP Commerce/Hybris, Sterling Order Management, PIM, payment gateways, or content-management systems. Experience validating microservices, event-driven integrations, and cloud-hosted applications. Knowledge of accessibility, performance, security, or mobile testing practices. Experience with observability tools, service virtualization, test-data management, or cross-browser testing platforms.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
