The posting

At Similarweb, we are a leading AI-powered digital intelligence company. By providing AI with massive scale data on actual online behaviors - including searches, site visits, and transactions - we deliver actionable market insights. Today, over half of the Fortune 500 trust our platform to drive their strategic next steps.

In 2021, we went public on the New York Stock Exchange and continued reaching new heights! Work alongside Similarwebbers who are bright, curious, practical, and good people.

We are looking for a curious and hands-on Product Designer to join our design team as a maternity leave replacement. You'll take your product areas from A to Z, working closely with product managers and engineers to turn complex problems into intuitive designs that serve both user needs and business goals.

You will join a centralized design team reporting to a practicing product designer, ensuring collaborative feedback and support.

This is not the same job it was two years ago. AI is changing what we build - our product is moving toward AI agents and AI-driven insights on top of the most comprehensive digital dataset in the world. It's changing how we build it - research, prototyping, design systems, and handoff to engineering all work differently now. And it's changing the tools we use, including the ones we're building for ourselves. The field is reshaping as we go and we adjust with it. We're looking for someone who finds that exciting rather than exhausting.

So, what will you be doing all day?

Your role as a Product Designer at Similarweb means your daily responsibilities may include:

  • Owning meaningful areas of our product - from research and ideation through user flows, prototyping, testing, microcopy, and all the way to launch.
  • Turning dense, complex data into experiences people can actually read, trust, and act on.
  • Designing AI-powered experiences: agentic flows, prompt- and conversation-driven interfaces, and AI-generated insights. That means designing for the hard parts too - non-deterministic outputs, trust and explainability, keeping a human in the loop, and what the experience looks like when the model gets it wrong.
  • Using AI throughout your own process to get from idea to something real, fast - prototyping working flows instead of static screens, exploring more directions before committing, and putting real interactions in front of stakeholders and users early.
  • Building, not only specifying. Some of what you design you'll take considerably further yourself, using AI tools to produce working features that engineering reviews before release. Knowing where that line sits - what's ready to ship and what needs a second pair of eyes - is part of the craft now.
  • Maintaining and evolving our design system - components, variables, tokens, patterns, and guidelines - so quality and consistency hold as the product scales, and so anyone building against it (designer, engineer, or AI tool) ends up with something that looks and behaves like Similarweb.
  • Using quantitative and qualitative data tools to research, track, and measure design flows.
  • Communicating with stakeholders, including executives, on design decisions, progress, and outcomes.
  • Bringing back what you learn. New tools, new workflows, better ways of working - we test them, and we adopt what works.

This is the perfect job for someone with:

  1. 3+ years of experience in product design, with a proven track record of delivering digital SaaS products.
  2. Strong data visualization instincts - you're at home in dense analytical interfaces: time series, benchmarks, funnels, and tables people actually use.
  3. A strong portfolio that demonstrates your design skills, process, and impact on business objectives.
  4. Hands-on experience working with AI as part of your day-to-day design practice - prototyping, exploration, research, or production work. We care much more about how you actually use it than about which tools you name.
  5. Enough technical literacy to build, not just hand off. You don't need to be an engineer, but you should be able to take a design further than a Figma file with AI tools, read what comes back, and tell good output from output that only looks good.
  6. Design systems experience - you're fluent in Figma libraries (components, variants, variables, tokens) and know how to keep design and code in sync with engineers. Having built one is a plus, not a requirement.
  7. Excellent communication skills - ability to present your designs and sell your solutions to various stakeholders.
  8. Comfort with ambiguity, and enough independence to be the only designer on a problem - setting your own bar, making the call, and knowing when to pull other people in. Ways of working here change often, and we want someone who helps shape that rather than waits for it to settle.

Advantages:

  • Experience designing AI-native features - agents, copilots, chat, or generative interfaces - a significant advantage.
  • Experience on complex SaaS or analytics platforms.
  • Experience writing structured context files for AI tools (such as design.md, AGENTS.md, or custom prompt rules) so both people and AI models can follow them.
  • Experience designing products for digital marketers, or in competitive intelligence, e-commerce, web analytics, or the mobile app ecosystem.

**At Similarweb, collaborating with our colleagues in the office creates a more connected, unified culture. Our best work is a product of our face-to-face collaboration, with the ability to work partially from home.**

Why you’ll love being a Similarwebber:

Manage data at scale. You'll design for data sets most designers never get near, and the best companies in the world will use what you ship to make real decisions.

Lead the AI era. You'll build with AI technology at a company engineered for the future - and in a design team actively working out what this craft becomes next, rather than waiting to be told.

Own your projects. The trust, autonomy and freedom to do your best work - and a small enough team that your decisions are visibly yours.

Grow from within. 1-1 mentorship, hands-on learning, skillful design guild, and a managerial team of designers. Even in a temporary role, you should leave with skills you didn't arrive with.

Diversity isn't just a buzzword: People want to work where they can be themselves. We strive to create a workplace that reflects our communities, where everyone is empowered to bring their whole, authentic selves to work. We are committed to inclusivity across race, gender, ethnicity, culture, sexual orientation, age, religion, spirituality, identity, and experience. Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
