The posting

Simon & Schuster’s Corporate Marketing division is seeking an Associate Manager, Social Media & Audience Growth to help bring our books, authors, and stories to readers through engaging social content, community building, and audience development.   Reporting to the Senior Manager, Social Media & Audience Growth, this role is an integral member of Simon & Schuster's Social Media & Audience Growth team, supporting the day-to-day management of our corporate social channels while helping create compelling content, foster reader communities, and identify new opportunities for book discovery.   This is an ideal opportunity for a creative, curious marketer who loves social media, internet culture, and books—and is excited to grow into a strategic social media leader.   Platform Management & Daily Programming: You'll manage the day-to-day strategy and execution for several of Simon & Schuster's corporate social platforms, including LinkedIn, X, Pinterest, BlueSky, and Instagram Broadcast Channels and Facebook Groups, while supporting broader publishing efforts across the team. This includes:

Planning, writing, publishing, and optimizing daily social content. Maintaining editorial calendars through Airtable and Sprout Social. Monitoring platform performance and identifying opportunities to improve engagement. Staying current on platform features, trends, and best practices.

Community Engagement: You'll help cultivate an engaged, welcoming, and thoughtful online community by:

Monitoring and responding to comments, direct messages, and audience questions across Simon & Schuster's corporate social channels. Identifying opportunities to deepen reader engagement and encourage conversation. Escalating customer service or sensitive issues to the appropriate internal teams when necessary. Sharing audience feedback and recurring themes with the broader Social Media & Audience Growth team.

Champion Books Across Simon & Schuster: You'll work closely with the Senior Manager and Manager to help readers discover books across Simon & Schuster's publishing program. You'll help:

Identify opportunities to amplify frontlist and backlist titles. Support corporate campaigns that extend imprint and author marketing initiatives. Gather and organize marketing assets from imprints and authors. Contribute creative ideas that connect books to cultural moments and reader interests.

Create Engaging Social Content: You'll play an active role in creating and producing content across our corporate channels. Responsibilities include:

Creating graphics, photography, short-form video, and written social content. Assisting with content capture at author events, consumer festivals, book launches, and other company initiatives. Supporting content production alongside the Video Production and Design teams. Experimenting with new formats, trends, and storytelling techniques.

Support Audience Growth: You'll help the team grow Simon & Schuster's online community by:

Monitoring audience behavior and engagement trends. Supporting editorial programming that encourages conversation and book discovery. Assisting with performance reporting and audience insights. Helping identify opportunities to participate in relevant cultural conversations.

Support Partnerships & Internal Education: You'll help strengthen both our internal marketing community and external relationships. Responsibilities include:

Maintaining the Corporate Social Wiki and platform best practice guides. Developing educational resources for authors, imprints, and internal stakeholders. Assisting the Senior Manager, Multicultural Marketing with influencer, partnership, and book club outreach. Supporting the Social Media All Hands meeting through research, documentation, and presentation materials.

Measure, Learn & Evolve: Social media never stands still—and neither do we. You'll:

Monitor performance across your platforms. Share audience insights and emerging trends with the team. Help identify opportunities to improve workflows and content performance. Continuously learn about new platforms, tools, and technologies that strengthen our social media presence.

What You'll Bring: We're looking for someone who is creative, collaborative, organized, and passionate about storytelling through social media. Qualified candidates will ideally have:

2–4 years of experience in social media, digital marketing, communications, or content marketing. Experience managing social media accounts for a brand, publisher, agency, or media company. Strong writing, editing, and copywriting skills. Experience creating social-first content, including photography, graphics, and short-form video. Familiarity with social publishing and analytics platforms such as Sprout Social, Airtable, Meta Business Suite, or similar tools. Excellent organizational and project management skills with strong attention to detail. A collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for experimenting with new ideas. A passion for books, publishing, internet culture, and connecting readers to stories.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
