Job Description

  • Read blueprints, instructions, and work specifications and examine surfaces to determine the type and amount of work required.
  • Carry out on-site preparations, including setting up scaffolding, ladders, and covering fixtures and surrounding areas.
  • Prepare walls and other surfaces for painting by scraping, sanding, removing old paint, and cleaning surfaces.
  • Fill cracks, holes, and uneven surfaces using appropriate materials such as plaster or putty.
  • Mix paints and other materials to achieve the required colour, texture, and consistency.
  • Apply paint to walls, ceilings, structures, and other surfaces using brushes, rollers, spray equipment, and other appropriate tools.
  • Apply varnish, protective coatings, and other finishing materials as required.
  • Calculate required materials and assist in estimating job costs where necessary.
  • Inspect completed work and perform touch-ups to ensure a high-quality finish.
  • Maintain painting tools and equipment in good working condition.
  • Follow all workplace health and safety procedures and requirements.
  • Perform other painting and related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Painter, preferably in the construction or commercial painting industry.
  • Good knowledge of painting materials and the ability to select, mix, and apply paints correctly.
  • Good understanding of commercial and/or construction painting techniques.
  • Able to use painting tools and equipment such as brushes, rollers, spray equipment, and caulking guns.
  • Good manual dexterity, physical fitness, and balance to work safely on scaffolding and ladders.
  • Detail-oriented and committed to producing quality workmanship.
  • Able to work beyond regular working hours when required.
  • Able to work on Saturdays, Sundays, and Public Holidays when required.
  • Able to work day or night shifts depending on project requirements.
  • Able to work at different project and construction sites as assigned.
  • Must follow all company and workplace safety procedures.
