Research Fellow I(Connected Robotics & Wireless Systems)
About the Job: You will lead research at the intersection of wireless communications and robotics, investigating how next-generation (5G/6G) networks and edge computing can support intelligent robots in real-world environments. The role will define research directions, design and conduct end-to-end experiments on the lab's wireless testbeds, mentor research assistants, and collaborate closely within industry partners. You are expected to publish findings in top-tier conferences and journals and contribute to 6G standardization activities.
Who We're Looking For:
- PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Communication Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
- Proven track record of research contributions in wireless communications or networking, including peer-reviewed publications in leading venues (e.g., IEEE JSAC, TWC, TMC, ICC, Globecom, INFOCOM).
- Solid understanding of 5G NR RAN and core networks, and familiarity with 6G research directions.
- Hands-on experience with experimental wireless testbeds (e.g., SDR/USRP, OpenAirInterface, srsRAN, commercial UEs) and end-to-end performance measurement.
- Proficiency in Python and/or C/C++ in Linux environments.
- Experience with robotics tools (e.g., ROS 2, Gazebo, Isaac Sim, MuJoCo) and experiments with real robots over wireless networks is a big plus.
- Experience with edge AI, networked control systems, or AI for wireless networks is a plus.
- Experience mentoring junior researchers and collaborating with industry partners.
- Strong leadership, communication, and documentation skills.
