The posting

Commercial Litigation Attorney (Denver – Hybrid)

$250k to $300k

We need a commercial litigator with 6-10 years of progressive litigation experience who is admitted to the Colorado bar and has run complex matters on their own, from the start of a case through to the end. You should be comfortable working with a lot of independence in a scrappy, middle-market practice. You should also have trial or arbitration experience and be able to talk about your results in concrete detail. Bonus points for experience with mechanic's lien and bond claims (especially under Colorado statutes), experience in Colorado state and federal courts, or portable client relationships. A book of business is not required.

Responsibilities

  • Handle a broad mix of commercial disputes on your own, including breach of contract, breach of warranty, mechanic's lien claims, bond claims, and business torts
  • Own matters from the first filing through resolution, including trial and arbitration, and drive good outcomes
  • Work closely with hiring partners (construction practice) and (Denver office head) to support growing work volume from newly arrived lateral partners
  • Draft high-level motions and briefs, and take and defend depositions
  • Lead discovery, motion practice, and trial or arbitration preparation for each matter
  • Build and grow client relationships using the firm's business development support: a $500 personal marketing budget, department BD resources, and a dedicated BD professional
  • Manage complex litigation matters from inception through resolution, including trial and arbitration.
  • Handle commercial disputes including breach of contract, breach of warranty, mechanic's lien claims, bond claims, and business torts.
  • Develop and execute litigation strategies in state and federal court.
  • Draft and argue dispositive motions, including motions for summary judgment.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other substantive legal documents.
  • Prepare and respond to written discovery, including interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admission.
  • Take and defend depositions of parties, fact witnesses, corporate representatives, and expert witnesses.
  • Participate in mediations, settlement conferences, hearings, arbitrations, and trials.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients and opposing counsel about case developments and litigation strategy.
  • Track deadlines, manage caseloads efficiently, and ensure compliance with court rules and scheduling orders.
  • Mentor and supervise junior associates and legal staff.
  • Participate in business development and client relationship activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage complex litigation matters end-to-end

Requirements and notes

  • Colorado bar admission is required. The only exception is if admission is expected within about one month.
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the US. No sponsorship is available.
  • A stable tenure history is strongly preferred. Partners will ask detailed questions about each career move.
  • Experience litigating breach of contract and business tort matters
  • Experience taking and defending depositions
  • Candidates from smaller or boutique firms tend to do well here, because the firm values an entrepreneurial approach.

Education

  • Graduated from an accredited US law school

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
