The posting

Company Overview

At Skild AI, we are building the world's first general purpose robotic intelligence that is robust and adapts to unseen scenarios without failing. We believe massive scale through data-driven machine learning is the key to unlocking these capabilities for the widespread deployment of robots within society. Our team consists of individuals with varying levels of experience and backgrounds, from new graduates to domain experts. Relevant industry experience is important, but ultimately less so than your demonstrated abilities and attitude. We are looking for passionate individuals who are eager to explore uncharted waters and contribute to our innovative projects.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Junior IT Support Engineer to independently handle day-to-day employee IT in a highly technical robotics and AI environment. You will support Mac, Linux, and Windows machines, networking, identity and access, and office technology for teams that build and test robots every day. Working closely our IT & Security Lead, you will own the IT ticket queue and run onboarding and off-boarding end to end. This is a hands-on role with the opportunity to build the run books and repeatable processes that help IT scale as Skild AI grows.

Responsibilities

  • Provision, configure, inventory, and retire Mac laptops through Iru (formerly Kandji).
  • Build and image Linux laptops and desktops for engineering teams, and support Windows machines where needed.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and OS issues, and manage repairs, loaners, and vendor RMAs.
  • Troubleshoot wired, Wi-Fi, VPN, and connectivity issues for employees and lab equipment.
  • Support office network changes, including patching, port assignments, and device onboarding.
  • Run new-hire setup end to end, from accounts, devices, and access to a first-day walkthrough, and run offboarding, including device recovery, access removal, and data handoff.
  • Handle SSO and MFA enrollment, resets, and basic access requests, and support day-to-day Google Workspace and Slack administration.
  • Maintain conference rooms, A/V, printers, and other onsite technology.
  • Work the IT ticket queue, meet response targets, and keep tickets clean and up to date.
  • Write run books and build repeatable processes so common requests get faster over time.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of experience in IT support, desktop support, help desk, or IT operations.
  • Strong macOS support skills, and comfortable supporting Linux and Windows.
  • Hands-on experience installing and configuring Linux (e.g., Ubuntu) on laptops and desktops.
  • Experience with Iru/Kandji, Jamf, or a similar endpoint management tool.
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals, including DHCP, DNS, VLANs, and Wi-Fi and VPN troubleshooting.
  • Experience running employee onboarding and offboarding, and with basic SSO and MFA administration (Okta or similar).
  • Ticket-queue discipline, clear written documentation, and a strong service orientation with both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Scripting in Bash, Python, or zsh to automate setup tasks is a plus.
  • Experience with broader SaaS administration, enterprise network gear (e.g., Arista, Palo Alto), RADIUS-based Wi-Fi, or conference room systems (Google Meet or Zoom Rooms) is a plus.
  • Experience at a fast-growing startup, or in AI, robotics, hardware, or engineering-heavy environments, is a plus.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Linux+, or Apple ACSP are a plus.
  • Builder mindset; comfortable working independently in a small, fast-moving, in-person team.

This is a full-time, fully onsite role in San Mateo, CA, and requires the ability to lift and move hardware.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
