The posting

For this role, we will only consider candidates who are currently based in the Netherlands.

About SkinVision

Skin cancer is highly treatable when caught early, but limited access to specialist care and long wait times delay diagnosis, increasing the risk of late-stage cases and driving up treatment costs. SkinVision, founded in Amsterdam in 2012, exists to close that gap. Our proprietary AI — certified as a Class IIa medical device under EU regulation, with over 90% sensitivity and 89% specificity — has already helped nearly 3 million people worldwide detect early signs of skin cancer. Today, SkinVision has a database of more than 6 million skin cancer images and can reach 20 million people through insurer partnerships. High-risk cases are reviewed by a team of dermatologists, who support users in taking the right next step — from urgent care to a specialist referral. We are extending this further, connecting users faster to the specialist care they need. We're a focused, international team, active globally, united by one goal: making early detection accessible to everyone, everywhere. If you join us, you're not just building a product — you're helping close the gap between a person noticing something and getting the care they need.

Head of Operations at SkinVision

SkinVision builds a CE-marked medical device that assesses skin cancer risk, and Operations sits at the heart of the clinical pathway. This function shapes what users are told, how quickly their results are reviewed, and whether those at high risk are connected to a doctor. The Head of Operations will take ownership of support, clinical review, patient follow-up, internal tooling, and service performance measurement. Some of these areas are already mature and self-sustaining, others are still taking shape and will need to be built from the ground up.

What you will do

  • Set the strategic direction, structure, and budget for Operations, determining what should be built internally, automated, or outsourced.
  • Grow the team by hiring strong people and coaching them into future leaders.
  • Define the standards that keep a small, safety-critical operation running consistently and audit-ready at all times.
  • Bring operational data together into one shared view across functions, so that patterns invisible at the team level become clear at scale. Assess product performance across different user groups and markets, going beyond average outcomes.
  • Lead the human-review process that protects the accuracy of results, weighing speed against safety.
  • Ensure patient communication and follow-up remain safe, empathetic, and consistent no matter the market.
  • Convert operational and usability findings into clear, prioritised input for Product and Commercial teams.
  • Collaborate closely with Finance, Regulatory, and Clinical teams on shared processes and data.
  • Take a forward-looking view of operational capability needs, identifying and addressing them ahead of demand as the business grows.

Your profile

  • You have led the shift from manual operations work to automation or stronger processes, and can point to a clear before-and-after in volumes, cycle times and cost.
  • You naturally work from data: defining the right metrics, running the queries yourself, and pushing back on numbers that do not add up.

Additionally:

  • 8+ years of operations experience, including managing team leads directly.
  • Experience operating within a regulated or safety-critical environment, with a sharp understanding of where producing compliance evidence ends and owning compliance begins.
  • A track record of growing a function's scope, beyond stabilisation and efficiency alone.
  • Skilled at building a business case and presenting it before a leadership team.
  • Excellent cross-functional communication skills, able to engage technical, clinical, and commercial stakeholders alike.
  • A willingness to surface trade-offs between speed, cost, and safety explicitly, rather than letting them go unaddressed.

What you'll need to know

You won't own regulatory or clinical work, but you'll need enough depth to work credibly alongside both:

  • EU MDR complaint handling and vigilance, ISO 13485 and IEC 62366, at the level needed to supply Regulatory with the right evidence
  • Sensitivity, specificity and the trade-off between them, plus stratified performance measurement (subgroup analysis, statistical power)
  • GDPR for special-category health data, including consent and the reuse of outcome data
  • Operational tooling and data: helpdesk/CRM, subscription billing, BI, data modelling, and SQL to the level of writing your own queries
  • Enough dermatology and skin-cancer literacy to lead safe triage and communication (no formal clinical training required)

Nice to have:

  • Dutch and/or German
  • Experience at a Software as a Medical Device or AI-enabled device company
  • Experience running a human review, adjudication or moderation operation with quality targets
  • A background in care navigation, patient services, or real-world evidence generation

How you work

  • Comfortable with breadth and unfinished edges; the seams will show for a while
  • You escalate early and accept being wrong, rather than absorbing risk quietly
  • Real empathy for frightened users, with the judgement to keep it inside safe boundaries

What we offer

  • A competitive salary, additional benefits, and a hybrid working policy
  • A vibrant, dynamic, and rapidly growing scale-up in Amsterdam
  • An enthusiastic, professional, and international team
  • Regular team events, including off-sites and fun activities
  • Unlimited skin checks for you

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
