The Role:

This position requires 75–100% travel for extended periods (weeks to months at a time). Candidates must be comfortable being on-site across multiple states. We are seeking a Project Engineer with 1–3 years of construction experience or relevant internships to support large-scale mechanical projects across the Midwest and East Coast.

About the Opportunity:

A well-established family-owned mechanical contractor supporting projects across multiple states is growing and looking for a Traveling Project Engineer to join their team. With a strong presence in industrial and automotive sectors and expanding into data centers, healthcare, commercial, and education, they are seeking a Project Engineer who is eager to grow within a stable, long-term career path.

This role will begin with project training at their office in Farmington Hills, MI with future assignments requiring travel to Ohio and across the East Coast depending on active projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or early-career construction professionals looking to gain hands-on project experience with a company known for long-term project stability and internal growth.

What You’ll Do

  • Support Project Managers on large-scale mechanical construction projects
  • Prepare and track submittals and RFIs
  • Maintain project documentation, logs, and reporting
  • Assist with scheduling, coordination, and project tracking
  • Help manage communication between field teams and office staff
  • Utilize Procore and/or Autodesk Construction Cloud
  • Support overall project compliance and documentation requirements

What we’re Looking For

  • Degree (or in progress) in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
  • Mechanical construction exposure (internship or field experience preferred)
  • Strong skills in Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Experience with Procore or Autodesk Construction Cloud preferred
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness and ability to travel for projects

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years construction experience
  • Internship experience with a General Contractor or Mechanical Contractor
  • Experience with Procore and/or Autodesk Construction Cloud

Must Have

Must have either field internship or project engineering experience supporting Project Managers on either large-scale HVAC Mechanical installation projects or construction projects.
