ABOUT SLASH

Slash is building the future of business banking, one industry at a time. We believe businesses deserve financial infrastructure tailored to how they actually operate. That's why we're creating a new category of business banking. We combine the reliability of traditional banking (high yields, competitive rewards, and comprehensive security) with industry-specific features that make businesses more efficient, more competitive, and more profitable.

Started in 2021, Slash is one of the fastest growing fintechs in the world and we power over ten billion dollars a year in business purchasing across numerous industries. We recently raised a $100M Series C led by Ribbit Capital with participation from Khosla Ventures, Goodwater Capital, NEA, and Y Combinator, accelerating our expansion into new markets and products.

Slash is headquartered in San Francisco, and has a strong in-person culture.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Slash is, at its core, a technology company and is on a mission to build the best engineering team in the world. We’re looking for a Senior Infrastructure/Platform Engineer focused on owning and scaling the foundation of our banking platform as we grow fast.

You’ll be responsible for keeping our systems reliable, secure, and fast — while building the tooling and infra that enables the rest of the team to move quickly without breaking things. That means scaling and working on everything on the cloud (AWS, Terraform, Kubernetes).

You’ll define our infrastructure roadmap, own critical decisions around performance, observability, security, and deployment, and play a key role in enabling Slash to serve billions of dollars in business spend reliably and securely.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

- Influence and implement the next generation of Slash's database, real-time workflow, and container orchestration infrastructure

- Scale and evolve our Kubernetes (EKS) platform, CockroachDB clusters, Kafka (MSK), Temporal workflows, and ElastiCache Redis as we grow through hypergrowth

- Work across engineering to introduce and scale best practices with cloud-native technologies like AWS ALB, WAF, Route 53, OpenSearch, S3, and Vercel

- Build and maintain abstractions within Terraform and Pulumi to simplify architecture, increase velocity, and push ownership to product teams

- Improve the speed and reliability of our CI/CD pipeline

- Find solutions to Slash's toughest scaling, performance, and low-latency problems across a monolithic deployment serving burst financial traffic

WE’RE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO

- 2-3+ years of experience shipping high-quality infrastructure for critical, high-availability systems

- Production experience in AWS (EKS, ALB, MSK, ElastiCache, S3, WAF, VPC networking)

- Proficiency in TypeScript or another object-oriented language

- An ability to think through internal engineering requirements and come up with high-impact ways to quickly unblock teams

- Deep experience in one or more of the following:

- Large-scale distributed SQL database administration (e.g. CockroachDB, PostgreSQL)

- Real-time workflow and queue systems (e.g. Temporal)

- Container orchestration and service infrastructure (Kubernetes/EKS, load balancing, ingress, service mesh)

WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU:

- Opportunity for high growth

- High autonomy + ownership culture

- Comprehensive health + benefits plan

- Working out of our downtown San Francisco office space

- Unlimited PTO

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
