About SleepRes

SleepRes is developing next-generation sleep apnea therapy technologies that improve patient outcomes. We are a small, fast-moving R&D team focused on building high-quality medical devices that make a real-world impact.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to lead the electrical and electronic architecture of current and next-generation positive airway pressure (PAP) therapy systems.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you will own the design, integration, verification, and production implementation of device electronics, including power architecture, PCBAs, sensors, blower and heater interfaces, display and user-interface hardware, communications hardware, electrical safety, EMC, and production-test interfaces.

You will work closely with systems, firmware, mechanical, software, V&V, NPI, quality, regulatory, overseas suppliers, and contract manufacturers to deliver reliable, compliant, and manufacturable electronics from concept through commercialization.

Level

This role may be filled at the Staff or Principal level based on experience, technical scope, and demonstrated leadership.

• Staff: Typically 8+ years of relevant product-development experience. Serves as the primary technical owner for the electrical discipline, leads architecture and cross-functional technical decisions, mentors engineers, and remains deeply hands-on in design, testing, and commercialization.

• Principal: Typically 10–12+ years of relevant experience with demonstrated platform-level technical leadership. Acts as a company-level authority for electrical architecture, establishes engineering standards, resolves the most complex multidisciplinary problems, mentors senior engineers, and influences multiple product generations.

What You’ll Do

• Lead electrical architecture, design, development, and verification for SleepRes PAP products

• Own main control PCBAs, power distribution and conversion, sensor interfaces, blower and heater electronics, display/UI hardware, communications hardware, and electrical protection circuitry

• Translate system requirements into electrical specifications, interfaces, component selections, design margins, and production-ready solutions

• Lead schematic, PCB layout, component-selection, tolerance, derating, grounding, shielding, and signal-integrity reviews

• Own electrical-safety and EMC engineering, including early pre-compliance testing, troubleshooting, and support of formal certification testing

• Lead the hardware side of cellular, BLE, Wi-Fi, antenna, SIM/eSIM, and RF integration and support FCC, PTCRB, carrier, and related certification activities

• Support verification, reliability testing, and hands-on root-cause investigation using appropriate electrical laboratory equipment

• Work with NPI, PCBA suppliers, and contract manufacturers on DFM, testability, ICT/functional test, calibration, programming, end-of-line test, yield, and design transfer

• Partner with Operations and Strategic Sourcing on component lifecycle, alternate-source qualification, supplier changes, value engineering, and cost reduction

• Support design controls and risk management, including requirements, specifications, DFMEA, verification documentation, engineering reports, and design changes

What We’re Looking For

• BS in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline (MS preferred)

• 8+ years of relevant electrical product-development experience; Principal-level candidates will typically bring 10–12+ years and demonstrated platform-level technical leadership

• Strong experience with analog and digital circuit design, embedded microcontroller systems, power electronics, sensor interfaces, PCB design, signal integrity, grounding, shielding, and EMC

• Strong hands-on laboratory and troubleshooting skills using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, power analyzers, electronic loads, and related equipment

• Experience with component selection, tolerance analysis, derating, lifecycle management, and alternate-component qualification

• Demonstrated experience taking complex electromechanical products from concept through commercial production

• Experience working directly with PCB assemblers, contract manufacturers, and component suppliers

• Strong systems thinking, communication, and ability to lead technical decisions in a fast-paced cross-functional environment

Nice to Have

• Experience developing CPAP, ventilator, respiratory, anesthesia, patient-monitoring, or other medical devices

• Medical-device development experience under ISO 13485 and FDA design controls/QMSR

• Familiarity with IEC 60601-1, IEC 60601-1-2, IEC 60601-1-11, and applicable IEC/ISO 80601 requirements

• Experience with pressure/flow sensors, blowers or motors, resistive heaters, thermistors, TFT/LCD displays, cellular modems, BLE, or Wi-Fi

• Experience with FCC, PTCRB, cellular-carrier, or other wireless-device certification

• Experience with production-test systems, high-volume Asian manufacturing partners, and electrical failure analysis

• Experience leading electrical engineers or serving as the electrical technical lead for a multidisciplinary product program

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
