Join AtkinsRéalis’ Engineering Services group as a Senior Civil Engineer & Deputy Manager and play a key role in delivering one of the most significant airport infrastructure projects in Canada. Based in Toronto, Ontario, you will be part of a specialized Airport team providing planning and engineering services for airport and heliport infrastructure projects to local, national, and international clients. This is an opportunity to contribute your expertise to complex civil engineering initiatives while supporting innovation, operational excellence, and the development of high-performing teams.

Your role

  • Assist the Manager, Airside and Infrastructure Engineering (AIE), in leading and managing team activities, including prioritizing and distributing assignments, managing workloads, and providing technical guidance and support to team members.
  • Oversee and coordinate design reviews, compliance reviews, and inspections to ensure adherence to applicable codes, standards, regulations, Client-specific requirements, and the Airport Construction Code.
  • Ensure quality reviews are completed on schedule for renovations, alterations, maintenance activities, new construction projects, and related program requirements.
  • Manage condition assessments and oversee annual updates to rolling 5-year restoration programs for Client civil assets, including the development of estimated restoration budgets to support capital planning initiatives.
  • Proactively identify safety risks and advocate for timely and effective resolution to support safe and compliant project delivery.
  • Collaborate with Planning & Engineering, Capital Delivery, Commercial Activation, Operations, Maintenance, and other key stakeholders, while coordinating SME reviews and updates to AIE standards and specifications and delivering a high level of customer service.
  • Review and improve processes and workflows, develop pilot projects and funding proposals for innovative civil and structural engineering solutions, represent the AIE Manager in meetings, provide technical expertise, and coach, mentor, and support the professional development of Client staff.

About you

  • Degree in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Structural Engineering.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in the design, construction, and commissioning of major developments or restoration/retrofit projects, including airport civil infrastructure and facilities of similar size to Toronto Pearson.
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience and ability to manage multiple civil engineering sub-disciplines, including Structural, Municipal, and Transportation engineering.
  • Experience with restoration programming, asset management principles for civil infrastructure, application of major Canadian design codes and standards, and knowledge of contract terms, contract management, and construction law.
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam and Microsoft Office applications (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project), along with strong abilities in team scheduling, stakeholder engagement, communication, and workshop facilitation.
  • Ability to work on-site at the Mississauga office five days per week.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
