Primary Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Director of Purchasing, assume complete responsibility for the purchasing and management of assigned production materials. Contribute to the attainment of department objectives through cost reduction efforts, inventory management, and ownership of the entire supply relationship as assigned.   Duties: Purchase production materials and expense items based on the evaluation of messages driven by the ERP system or through new product management workflow. Manage and coordinate all aspects of commodities assigned.   Perform various assigned duties to assist the Purchasing Department in obtaining quotations, following up on orders, maintaining files, maintenance of database accuracy, and emailing reports to suppliers.   Purchase non-inventoried items submitted through the PO requisition system.   Manage all aspects of consignment program(s), as assigned.   Expedite materials and maintain the PO acknowledgement email system. Discuss any problems that are discovered with the Director of Purchasing. Contact and work with the supplier as required.   Correct invoicing inconsistencies and make database corrections as needed.   Report major irregularities to the Director of Purchasing and assist where possible to initiate corrective measures.   Complete special projects as assigned.   Make suggestions for departmental improvements related to time management, duplication of effort, or any other areas of inefficiency. Look for ways to reduce total cost of acquisition through ordering efficiencies, terms, logistics, or resourcing.   Requires tact in contacting and dealing with suppliers to assist them where possible and to maintain good business relationships. The buyer is the owner of the supply chain relationship for all commodity/part assignments.   Other Responsibilities: Fill in at various positions as assigned. Perform necessary duties as assigned to maintain the flow of production and/or paperwork as determined by customer needs.   Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, and follow all applicable policies, procedures, work instructions, safety rules, and regulations. Two to three years in manufacturing environment with familiarity with manufacturing processes, procedures and flow. Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including: Outlook, Word, and Excel Experience with ERP system(s) Must have excellent verbal and written communication skill set.   Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
