We are also the official dealer of SDLG, Dressta, Sennebogen Green Line, Mack Trucks and Marcopolo buses. In its subsidiaries, SMT Africa has a permanent stock of trucks, machinery, and parts ready to be delivered.

Introduction

Official Distributor for Volvo Group (Volvo Construction, Equipment, Volvo Trucks, Volvo Bus & Volvo Penta), SMT Africa offers a wide range of products in more than twenty countries of North, West & Central Africa.

We operate an outstanding own sales and service network with operational agility and entrepreneurial spirit. Our team of mechanical and aftersales experts built, through the last 10 years, a service level quality that we are all proud of.

In order to strengthen our Logistics department with additional expertise, we are currently looking for a "Senior Logistic Officer" for our office in Antwerp.

Responsibilities

The “Senior Logistic Officer” is mainly responsible for arranging and scheduling transportation of equipment while optimizing service and cost for goods / merchandise. This is an individual role, operating in full autonomy for several countries.

  • You are responsible for the entire process, from launching pickings, to invoicing, to following all applicable export rules and regulations, booking transport and following up until arrival of the goods in Africa.
  • Oversee and coordinate the movement of goods or equipment including the pre-delivery checks and keep clients informed of progress ;
  • Prepare complex export documentation and ensure equipment has been duly checked on quality and conformity prior to shipping ;
  • Solve import / export issues in close cooperation with customers and sales teams
  • Define the most cost-effective transport type and negotiate arrangements with carriers to ensure timely shipping to customers ;
  • Assess duty and tariffs amounts for shipments and ensure that logistics activities comply with the applicable legislation and regulations, making suggestion to improve shipping processes or optimize costs.

Profile

  • You hold a degree in Logistic, Supply Chain or equivalent by experience ;
  • Previous experience in handling international shipments ;
  • Ability to work in ERP systems and Microsoft based programs, mainly Outlook and Excel ;
  • You're fluent in Dutch or French with strong command of English ;
  • Knowledge of Incoterms, credit letters and transport documentation ;
  • Organized with good time management, multi-tasking ;
  • Good problem solver and ability to deal with complexity ;
  • Deadline oriented and able to work under pressure ;
  • Team player and Cost conscious.
