Snap Inc is a technology company. We believe the camera presents the greatest opportunity to improve the way people live and communicate. Snap contributes to human progress by empowering people to express themselves, live in the moment, learn about the world, and have fun together.

The Company operates Snapchat, a visual messaging app that enhances your relationships with friends, family, and the world, and Specs Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary dedicated to making computing more human, in addition to Bitmoji, Saturn, and other digital services.

The Product Design team is a small but influential team that steers the future of the core Snapchat application. Our Design Engineers work closely with the CEO and various cross functional leaders to create a design led roadmap to build products and experiences that bring our community together in new and special ways.

We’re looking for a Design Engineer to join the Design team at Snap Inc!

What you’ll do:

  • Quickly bring new ideas to life through functional prototypes
  • Build creative tooling and internal systems that change and improve how teams across Snap work
  • Occasionally prototype on other platforms, including web, AR, and AI
  • Help drive the design process with engineering teams to ship these new products to users
  • Invent new products by leveraging your technical background and passion for design
  • Deliver outsized impact on products used by hundreds of millions of people every day
  • Learn new skills and collaborate within a multi-functional design studio
  • Work with product designers and user researchers to test new ideas and iterate on feedback
  • Present and pitch your ideas and work directly to the CEO and company leadership
  • Be a lead in cross-functional teams with product managers and engineering to polish and refine the end products we ship

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge and understanding of iOS software engineering principles
  • Ability to know when it’s fine to abandon first principles for a quick proof-of-concept
  • Ability to rapidly prototype fully functional mobile experiences
  • Ability to think at a high level about product strategy
  • Creative problem solving and the ability to iterate on solutions for challenging problems
  • Adaptability in learning and applying evolving AI systems and tools to remain at the forefront of design and engineering trends

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS/BA in a technical field such as Computer Science or equivalent years of experience
  • 6+ years of post-Bachelor’s software development experience; or Master’s degree in a technical field + 5+ year of post-grad software development experience; or PhD in a relevant technical field + 2+ years of post-grad software development experience
  • Experience with iOS application development (Objective-C and/or Swift)
  • 3+ years of experience driving product strategy and/or design decisions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with design and rapid prototyping software (e.g. AI, Figma, Sketch, Framer, Origami, Principle)
  • Bringing something new to the table: whether that’s a new perspective on our product, a unique understanding of a particular field, or expertise in something like hardware, AI, 3D graphics, HCI, etc.
  • A portfolio showcasing your work and strong mobile design skills

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
