About the Role

We are seeking a hands-on Product Owner, CPQ to own the backlog and day-to-day delivery of our Configure-Price-Quote platform within the IT Business Applications team. This role sits at the center of the Quote-to-Cash process, translating how Sales, Deal Desk, and Finance actually quote and close business into well-designed, well-specified Salesforce CPQ capability.

You will split your time between business process work and agile delivery: running discovery with stakeholders, designing CPQ solutions for product configuration, pricing, discounting, and approvals, then writing the stories, grooming the backlog, and steering an offshore Salesforce development team through sprint execution to release.

This is a high-visibility role on a platform undergoing active modernization, including the move toward Salesforce Revenue Cloud. You will work alongside the Senior Product Manager and CRM leadership, with real ownership of your product area and a direct line of sight from the requirements you write to the revenue processes they unblock.

Key Responsibilities

Backlog Ownership & Agile Delivery

  • Own, prioritize, and maintain the CPQ product backlog, balancing enhancement requests, defects, technical debt, and roadmap initiatives against business value
  • Write clear, testable user stories with well-defined acceptance criteria, functional detail, and edge-case handling
  • Lead sprint ceremonies with the offshore Salesforce development team: backlog grooming, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives
  • Serve as the day-to-day point of decision for the scrum team, clarifying requirements, unblocking questions, and accepting or rejecting completed stories
  • Manage release scope and readiness in partnership with the Senior Product Manager, including regression coverage, deployment planning, and post-release validation
  • Track and report sprint progress, velocity, and delivery risks to stakeholders and IT leadership

CPQ Process & Solution Design

  • Serve as a functional subject matter expert for Salesforce CPQ: product and bundle configuration, price rules, discount schedules, approval workflows, quote templates, contracting, amendments, and renewals
  • Document, analyze, and optimize Quote-to-Cash business processes, identifying friction in the quoting cycle and proposing scalable platform solutions
  • Design CPQ solutions that favor configuration and platform capability over one-off customization, keeping the org maintainable as the business scales
  • Partner with Deal Desk, Sales Operations, and Finance to improve quote accuracy, approval cycle time, and pricing governance
  • Assess downstream impacts to order management, e-commerce, provisioning, billing, and ERP for every change, coordinating with adjacent IT teams
  • Contribute to the Quote-to-Cash roadmap and to the evaluation and rollout of Salesforce Revenue Cloud (RCA) capabilities
  • Support production issue triage and root cause analysis for CPQ and quoting escalations
  • Monitor adoption and platform health, using data to identify the next set of improvement opportunities

Stakeholder Engagement & Requirements

  • Facilitate discovery sessions with business users, process owners, and system owners to frame problem statements and capture detailed requirements
  • Translate business needs into functional designs and high-level technical specifications for the offshore delivery team
  • Set and manage expectations with business stakeholders on scope, sequencing, and delivery timelines
  • Build strong working relationships across Sales, Channel, Sales Operations, Marketing, and Finance as the trusted CPQ point of contact
  • Communicate trade-offs clearly, what is being built, what is being deferred, and why

Required Experience

  • 5-8 years of experience in IT business systems, business analysis, or product ownership roles supporting enterprise applications
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Salesforce CPQ (Steelbrick), Salesforce Revenue Cloud (RCA), and/or Apttus/Conga CPQ
  • 3+ years of working knowledge of Salesforce Sales Cloud, including the core data model, opportunity management, and declarative configuration
  • 2+ years serving as a Product Owner or equivalent in an agile/scrum delivery environment, including backlog and story ownership
  • Demonstrated experience delivering Quote-to-Cash or CPQ solutions in a multi-product, subscription, or channel-heavy environment
  • Experience working with offshore or distributed development teams across sprint cycles

Skills & Competencies

  • Solid command of CPQ concepts: product rules, pricing models, discounting, approval matrices, quote document generation, and order creation
  • Strong requirements and documentation skills, able to write user stories, process flows, and functional specifications that developers can build from without rework
  • Analytical and detail-oriented, with the ability to trace a quoting problem through configuration, data, and process to its root cause
  • Excellent communication skills, comfortable translating between business stakeholders and technical teams
  • Able to prioritize and execute across competing demands in a fast-paced environment
  • Collaborative, self-directed, and accountable, takes ownership of outcomes rather than tasks
  • Curious and adaptable, with genuine interest in evolving Salesforce capabilities including Revenue Cloud and AI-assisted selling tools

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelor's degree (4-year) in a technical or business field required
  • Salesforce certifications preferred: CPQ Specialist, Administrator, and/or Sales Cloud Consultant

What Makes This Role Unique

CPQ is where go-to-market strategy meets operational reality, and this role owns that intersection. You will have genuine backlog ownership rather than order-taking, direct access to the business leaders whose processes you are improving, and the chance to help shape a platform modernization already in motion. For a product owner who wants to deepen CPQ and Quote-to-Cash expertise on a growing team, with a clear path toward senior product management, this is an unusually good seat.

The salary range for this position is in the range of $100K – $140K, depending on experience and qualifications

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
