The posting

SOLV Energy is a leading provider of infrastructure services to the power industry, designing, building and maintaining utility scale solar, battery storage and high voltage substation projects nationwide.

Job Description Summary:

The Senior Director, Workforce Capability is responsible for building and leading SOLV’s enterprise approach to developing the technical capabilities required to safely, effectively, and consistently execute our work.

This role provides strategic leadership for SOLV’s technical training ecosystem, including functional training, Training Center operations and programming, apprenticeship, workforce readiness, and the learning infrastructure that enables development to scale across the organization.

Working closely with Operations, Safety, Quality, Human Resources, and functional leaders, this position establishes the systems, standards, governance, and infrastructure that translate business and workforce needs into scalable capability-building solutions.

This role requires a senior leader with significant experience leading a large-scale, enterprise technical training function, ideally in construction, energy, utilities, manufacturing, or another complex, safety-critical environment with a geographically dispersed workforce.

This role is hybrid, with regular in-office presence in Dallas, TX. Specific location details and expectations will be discussed during the interview process.

Job Description:

*This job description reflects management's assignment of essential functions; it does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned

Position Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Develop and execute SOLV’s enterprise workforce capability strategy aligned with business growth, operational priorities, workforce plans, and future skill requirements.
  • Establish a comprehensive framework for identifying critical workforce capabilities, assessing gaps, and determining how those capabilities should be built, validated, and sustained.
  • Partner functional leaders and subject matter experts to anticipate emerging skill needs and ensure capability strategies reflect technical standards, field realities, and evolving business, technology, market, and customer requirements.
  • Establish and provide strategic leadership for the Training Center as a core component of SOLV’s workforce capability strategy and a bridge between classroom/virtual learning and demonstrated field capability.
  • Provide enterprise oversight and strategic direction for SOLV apprenticeship program.
  • Provide strategic leadership of the learning enablement function including instructional design, learning technology, and knowledge management.
  • Create clear connections between workforce planning, technical training, qualification, career progression, and deployment of a capable workforce.
  • Establish enterprise measures demonstrating the impact of capability-building investments on workforce readiness, safety, quality, productivity, retention, and business performance.
  • Own enterprise technical training budgets, resource allocation, and staffing strategies across programs and large-scale initiatives.

Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in technical operations, workforce development, technical training, learning, or related fields, including significant leadership experience overseeing large-scale training or workforce capability programs.
  • Demonstrated experience leading a large, enterprise-wide technical or operational training function supporting a complex and geographically dispersed workforce.
  • Experience building or transforming technical training systems at scale rather than solely managing established programs.
  • Experience with enterprise learning technology and learning management systems; Workday Learning experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to connect training strategy with workforce planning, operational performance, safety, quality, and business outcomes.
  • Experience operating in construction, utilities, energy, manufacturing, industrial operations, skilled trades, or another complex operational environment strongly preferred.
  • Experience building and leading multidisciplinary teams responsible for enterprise capability development.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish new enterprise standards and operating models while bringing leaders, subject matter experts, and frontline teams along through the change.
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage artificial intelligence, learning technologies, and data-driven insights to accelerate workforce capability development and organizational performance.

Measures of Success:

  • Increased availability of qualified, job-ready talent for critical roles.
  • Clear, consistent technical learning and qualification pathways across the enterprise.
  • Improved visibility into workforce skills, qualifications, and readiness.
  • Effective utilization and measurable operational impact of the Training Center.
  • Strong apprenticeship completion, progression, and capability outcomes.
  • Consistent enterprise standards for functional training and instructional quality.
  • Demonstrated connections between workforce capability investments and improvements in safety, quality, productivity, retention, and operational performance.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
