SOLV Energy is a leading provider of infrastructure services to the power industry, designing, building and maintaining utility scale solar, battery storage and high voltage substation projects nationwide.

Job Description Summary:

SOLV Energy is looking for a Software QA and Support Engineer to join our Software Engineering Team to ensure we are providing high-quality work and service to our (mostly internal) customers. We are seeking someone who will collaborate within the team to successfully coordinate with external teams, test our software solutions, and contribute to our culture of continuous improvement and growth.

Members of the Software Engineering team support our custom software for utility-scale construction management, data monitoring, analytics, and reporting.

Job Description:

*This job description reflects management's assignment of essential functions; it does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned

Position Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Achieve an expert level understanding of our custom software system features, the design intent, integrations with other business platforms, and how the applications are utilized
  • Prioritize and manage testing work independently using Jira, team tools, and release timelines

  • Work together with other QA team members to coordinate functional, regression, negative, and ad-hoc testing
  • Write comprehensive test cases to cover functional test scenarios
  • Identify and drive opportunities to improve testing through automation, AI, and other innovations
  • Build self-sufficiency in your test environment, including basic Git/GitHub skills to pull and run code locally
  • Bring insights from training and communications to the Software Engineering team to support continuous process and product improvement
  • Serve as first point of contact and 2nd-tier support for our custom software — troubleshoot and resolve where possible, or escalate to the Development Manager with a clear, reproducible bug report in Jira
  • Monitor support channels and maintain clear, accurate ticket records from intake through resolution, meeting response-time expectations
  • Identify recurring or common issues, document known fixes to reduce repeat tickets and support future self-service, and suggest improvements to address root causes
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned

Key Competencies:

  • Demonstrated, exceptional organizational skills and an aptitude to learn
  • Experience testing software applications, identifying bugs, validating features against product requirements
  • Proficiency in Jira and Confluence
  • Strong problem-solving ability and analytical skills
  • Clear and concise communication resulting in the contribution to effective wikis, product requirements
  • Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience providing end-user software support, including triage, troubleshooting, and ticket management
  • Comfortable being the front-line contact for support requests, with a customer- service mindset
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent support requests without losing track of details

Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements:

  • B.S. in Engineering, Computer Science, or related
  • Experience writing automated tests for Typescript or Python code bases
  • 5+ years of software QA testing

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
