The posting

Sonata One is a rapidly scaling, regulated fund services and technology (fintech) business. We're The Private Funds Clearinghouse, connecting more than 53,000 investors with 6,500 funds and 180 fund managers around the globe. Our vision is to change the paradigm of private markets investing through harmonising the end-to-end investment process within one platform. Investors benefit from a seamless, one & done experience across the fund lifecycle (from fund selection and subscription through to settlement and reporting) underpinned by a globally compliant KYC passport and 24/5 support. Fund managers can raise capital faster at a lower cost from a wider pool of pre-approved investors. Founded in 2015, Sonata One has a presence in eight locations worldwide including the US, UK and Luxembourg, Guernsey, South Africa and Mauritius.

We operate as #OneGlobalThread in line with our values: We challenge the norm, we change the way we think and work, by connecting systems and people, while committing to our vision and each other. We are now looking to recruit a Business Analyst to join our global team.

Position Overview:

We are hiring a client facing Business Analyst to play a key role in the implementation and ongoing management of Sonata One's solutions for our clients.

This is a varied role sitting at the intersection of clients, implementation, operations, CRM and technology. You will work directly with clients to understand their requirements, processes and objectives, translating these into clear business requirements and actionable plans.

You will be involved throughout the client and new business lifecycle, from initial implementation and onboarding through to ongoing change, optimisation and improvement.

This is not a traditional internal Business Analyst role. You will be a trusted client-facing partner, helping clients and their internal stakeholders understand how Sonata One works, identifying opportunities to improve processes and ensuring that implementations are delivered effectively and with a strong focus on client outcomes.

The role will suit someone who is structured, logical, enjoys working with people, asking questions, understanding how businesses operate and turning complex requirements into clear, structured solutions.

Responsibilities

Client Process Support

  • Work directly with clients throughout the implementation and onboarding process
  • Build strong relationships with client stakeholders and act as a key point of contact throughout implementation projects
  • Understand the client's existing processes, systems, workflows and requirements
  • Gather, document and analyse business and functional requirements
  • Work with clients to define their desired future-state processes and operating model, in line with the standard Sonata One operating model and procedures
  • Translate client requirements into clear actions, processes and deliverables for internal teams, specifically technology and operations
  • Support the planning, coordination and delivery of client implementations
  • Identify dependencies, risks, issues and potential blockers and work collaboratively to resolve them
  • Ensure implementation activity remains aligned to agreed scope, timelines and client expectations

Business Analysis

  • Facilitate workshops, meetings and discovery sessions with clients and internal stakeholders
  • Work with the CTO, Head of Product, Director Of Operations and MD of Growth to establish business priorities for any system changes required to deliver for our clients
  • Ask the right questions to understand how a process works today, why it works that way and what needs to change
  • Map and document current-state and future-state processes
  • Identify inefficiencies, gaps, risks and opportunities for improvement
  • Translate business requirements into clear and actionable documentation
  • Develop client process flows, requirements documents, user stories and supporting implementation materials where appropriate
  • Challenge existing processes constructively and identify opportunities to improve the client experience
  • Ensure requirements are understood consistently across clients, Implementation, Operations, CRM and Technology

Project Management & Delivery

  • Support the management of multiple client implementation projects simultaneously
  • Maintain clear project plans, actions, milestones and dependencies
  • Coordinate activity across internal teams to ensure implementation deliverables are completed on time
  • Work closely with stakeholders to manage changes to scope and requirements
  • Communicate project progress, risks and issues clearly to both clients and internal stakeholders

Client Relationship Management

  • Work directly with the client relationship manager to develop trusted relationships with client stakeholders at different levels of their organisation
  • Contribute to the client account review process
  • Act as a knowledgeable and responsive partner throughout implementation and beyond
  • Manage expectations effectively and communicate clearly when requirements, timelines or priorities change
  • Gather client feedback and identify opportunities to improve both the product and client experience

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with the wider Implementation team to deliver successful client outcomes
  • Partner with the CRM team, Operations and Technology to translate business requirements into effective solutions
  • Work with Product and Technology teams to communicate client requirements and identify potential product enhancements
  • Collaborate with Operations teams to understand operational impacts and ensure solutions are practical and scalable
  • Identify recurring client requirements and themes that could inform improvements to Sonata One's products, processes and services
  • Help create greater consistency and best practice across the implementation function

Experience Required:

  • Experience working as a Business Analyst in a client-facing environment
  • Proven experience supporting client implementations, onboarding projects or complex change programmes
  • Strong understanding of project delivery and the ability to manage multiple workstreams and priorities
  • Experience gathering and documenting business requirements from clients and stakeholders
  • Ability to understand complex processes and translate them into clear, structured requirements
  • Comfortable working directly with clients and managing stakeholder expectations
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of how operational decisions affect the client relationship
  • Ability to balance client requirements with the needs of the wider business

Strong understanding of:

  • Business analysis methodologies and techniques, including translating complex requirements into practical steps
  • Client implementation and onboarding
  • Process mapping and process improvement
  • Project management principles and delivery methodologies
  • Stakeholder management and client communication
  • Technology-enabled business processes
  • Financial services or fintech environments

Experience within fintech or financial services is important for this position, particularly where candidates have worked with regulated environments, complex client onboarding or technology-enabled financial processes.

Experience within private markets, fund administration, investor onboarding or adjacent financial services environments would be advantageous.

Personal Attributes

  • Highly client-focused, with a genuine desire to understand and solve client problems
  • Naturally curious and comfortable asking questions to get to the root of an issue
  • Strong communicator who can build relationships with both clients and internal stakeholders
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects, priorities and stakeholders simultaneously
  • Commercially aware and able to understand the wider impact of decisions
  • Confident challenging existing processes and suggesting better ways of working
  • Proactive, solutions-focused and comfortable working in an environment where things are continually evolving
  • Collaborative and willing to work across functions to get things done
  • Hungry to learn, develop and make an impact within a growing business

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Technology or a related field preferred but not essential with relevant experience
  • Business Analysis, Project Management or related professional qualifications are advantageous
  • Relevant experience within fintech, financial services or another regulated industry is highly desirable

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
