The posting

Sourceability® is a global digital distributor of electronic components transforming how modern businesses bring products to market. With innovation, quality and logistics as the backbone of the company, Sourceability’s cutting-edge products and services expedite the procurement process across a wide range of industries, including communications/cellular, consumer electronics, and auto manufacturing.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Excess Buyer to become a vital part of our APAC Excess team.

As a Senior Excess Buyer, you will manage strategic and high-value excess accounts, lead complex negotiations, support Sales with proactive offers and coach the next generation of Excess Buyers. This role is the senior commercial expert level within the Excess team and is designed to prepare strong performers for future management responsibility.

Our goal is to build a sophisticated team equipped with expert technical skills, commercial judgement and keen business acumen. Each team member adds value to the business, the customer and the wider supply chain.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Managing RFQ Ensure all vendor RFQs and quotes are processed through the system, uploaded accurately by Buyers, and answered within SLA limits. Manage and balance Buyers' workload, prioritization, and coverage, supporting the Excess Director (e.g. backorder review).
  2. SO/PO Management Process Secure competitive global pricing by quoting from competitive suppliers. Ensure Buyers place POs within the same working day and keep PO delivery statuses and records (ordered, received, in transit) updated for timely delivery. Address unfulfilled sales orders and order fall-downs promptly, offering recovery or closure options. Review requisitions, POs, supplier claims, and contracts for policy conformance. Guide speculative buys aligned with confirmed or forecasted demand (shortage, EOL, LTB).
  3. Supplier Development, Pipeline and Market Analysis Drive pipeline development of excess suppliers (OEMs, EMS, distributors) through outreach, networking, and referrals; ensure Buyers follow up daily on excess and E&O lists. Ensure accurate contact, account, and deal data in the ERP/CRM; support account growth (revenue, gross profit, engagement). Review excess lists, excess BOMs, and market trends to identify margin opportunities, high-value or constrained parts, and premium brands.
  4. Collaboration and Coordination Engage with the Supplier Development Group (SDG) to utilize Channel Partners efficiently; collaborate with Excess, Franchise, SDG, Sales, Commodity Management, Operations, and Compliance during SO/PO management to match inventory with demand. Encourage buyer-sales rep interaction and support office discipline in coordination with the P&C team.
  5. Talent Management Supervise, coach, onboard, and train Buyers (Junior to Senior) on outreach, list analysis, negotiation, and closing; lead by example. Assess and cultivate team members' skills and motivation; review daily activity and KPIs and recommend corrective actions. Manage escalations and update the Excess Director on pipeline, deals, vendors, and performance; collaborate with the Purchasing Manager/Director as needed for mutual support; other duties as requested by management.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Diploma/Bachelor's degree in engineering, supply chain, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of management experience in purchasing for an international electronic broker/distributor; 4+ years in procurement, excess inventory, or semiconductor distribution, including leading, mentoring, or training teams.

  • Commercial mindset with strong negotiation, closing, analytical, and decision-making skills; leadership skills to motivate and hold people accountable; self-motivated and results-driven in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in English reporting and analytics platforms, with advanced Excel skills; flexibility to occasionally adjust working hours for global coordination.

Preferred Skills:

  • Network within OEMs / EMS / distributors in the assigned region; experience with shortage, EOL, or LTB components.
  • Familiarity with ERP/CRM systems; prior experience supervising or building a buying team.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
