About Sourcefin

Sourcefin is a South African fintech specialising in purchase order funding, tender finance, and invoice discounting for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMMEs). Beyond financing, Sourcefin provides end-to-end supply chain support sourcing, logistics, and supplier management helping SMMEs successfully fulfil public and private sector purchase orders and tenders that they would otherwise struggle to deliver on due to working capital constraints.

Job Purpose

The New Business Sales Consultant is responsible for independently sourcing and developing new business opportunities for Sourcefin's funding and supply chain solutions. This role combines proactive lead generation, tender monitoring, and direct relationship-building with SMMEs, corporate clients, government departments, and municipalities — identifying businesses that have won or are pursuing tenders/purchase orders and need funding or supply chain support to deliver on them.

Key Responsibilities

Lead Generation & Prospecting

  • Independently source, identify, and qualify new business leads across target markets.
  • Build and maintain a personal pipeline of prospective clients, with minimal reliance on inbound leads.
  • Continuously research market trends, industry developments, and competitor activity to identify new opportunities.

Networking & Events

  • Attend industry conferences, trade shows, networking events, and business forums to generate leads and build a professional network.
  • Represent the company professionally at external events, building brand visibility and credibility.
  • Follow up promptly and effectively on leads and contacts generated through events.

Tender & Public Sector Business

  • Monitor tender portals and government procurement websites daily for relevant briefing sessions, tender opportunities, and awarded tenders.
  • Attend tender briefing sessions where required and gather intelligence on upcoming public sector opportunities.
  • Track awarded tenders to identify potential subcontracting, partnership, or future bidding opportunities.
  • Build and maintain relationships with government departments and municipalities to establish long-term lead channels.
  • Ensure compliance with tender submission requirements, deadlines, and documentation standards.

Client Engagement & Outreach

  • Proactively call and engage potential clients, including companies holding transversal (framework/panel) contracts, and SMMEs that have won or are pursuing tenders and purchase orders.
  • Identify decision-makers within target organisations and initiate first-contact conversations.
  • Present Sourcefin's PO funding, tender finance, invoice discounting, and supply chain support solutions persuasively, tailoring the pitch to each client's working capital needs and delivery challenges.
  • Schedule and conduct meetings with prospective clients to progress opportunities through the sales pipeline.

Relationship & Channel Building

  • Establish and nurture relationships with key stakeholders in government departments and municipalities.
  • Develop a structured approach to visiting public sector offices to create ongoing lead channels.
  • Maintain regular contact with existing and prospective clients to ensure sustained pipeline growth.
  • Reporting & Administration
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of leads, pipeline status, and client interactions in the CRM system.
  • Provide regular reports on lead generation activity, tender tracking, and sales pipeline progress.
  • Meet or exceed monthly/quarterly new business targets.

Key Requirements

Qualifications

  • Matric / Grade 12 (essential); a relevant tertiary qualification in Sales, Marketing, Business, or a related field (advantageous).

Experience

  • Minimum 2–5 years' experience in new business development, sales, or a similar hunter-type sales role.
  • Proven experience with public sector tenders and/or government/municipal client engagement is highly advantageous.
  • Demonstrated track record of self-generated lead sourcing and cold outreach.
  • Skills & Competencies
  • Strong self-starter with the ability to work independently and manage own pipeline.
  • Excellent cold-calling, negotiation, and closing skills.
  • Confident networker, comfortable engaging senior stakeholders at events and in government offices.
  • Strong understanding of tender processes, procurement cycles, and compliance requirements.
  • An interest in or basic understanding of SMME funding, purchase order finance, or invoice discounting is advantageous.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple leads and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Proficient in CRM systems and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Resilient, target-driven, and comfortable with rejection in a hunter sales environment.

Other Requirements

  • Valid driver's license and own reliable transport (essential regular travel to client sites, government offices, and events).
  • Willingness to travel regularly, including to municipalities and government departments.
  • Flexibility to attend after-hours networking events when required.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
