About the job
SOVRA is looking for an experienced, technically fluent Product Manager Director to own the strategy, delivery, and evolution of its data and integrations platform. Data and integrations are core to how SOVRA delivers value to public sector buyers and suppliers, and this role is central to how the platform connects with the outside world.
The role defines how data flows across systems, how SOVRA's APIs scale, and how integration capabilities evolve to support enterprise customers. It owns the Datalake roadmap, leads the launch of the new Embedded BI offering, and shapes the data foundation behind SOVRA's AI capabilities.
The work reaches engineering, design, security, and go-to-market teams, as well as the enterprise agencies and ERP partners that rely on SOVRA's integrations. Public sector customers expect a high standard of accuracy, reliability, and security, and the person in this role holds the platform to that standard.
WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES LOOK LIKE?
Product Strategy for Data & Integrations
- You lead vision, strategy, delivery, and go-to-market for customer facing data analytics and integrations offerings, bringing embedded and self-service reporting into the product, including packaging and pricing.
- You work with engineering, security, and compliance teams to design APIs, integration frameworks, and synchronization patterns that serve real-time and batch use cases.
- You set success metrics, track performance and adoption, and use that evidence to guide platform investment.
Datalake & Data Foundation
- You own the vision, architecture, and roadmap for the feature’s datalake, setting the governance standards, pipeline strategy, and access patterns that product teams and customers rely on.
- You lead decisions on data accuracy, consistency, and reliability across systems, including schemas and synchronization approaches at scale.
- You build the data foundation for AI capabilities, including agency similarity, comparable solicitations, and outcome tracking.
Customer Partnership
- You partner with government agencies, partners, and product teams to understand their needs and prioritize work, with roughly 10–15% travel within North America.
WHAT WILL YOU BRING TO THIS ROLE?
Technical product leadership — you have significant experience as a technical product manager or product lead, translating technical concepts into clear business value and aligning stakeholders across engineering, go-to-market, and leadership.
Embedded analytics experience — you have built and shipped client-facing embedded analytics and BI within a product which deliver measurable customer value beyond ‘access to data’, on platforms such as MSFT BI, AWS QuickSuite, or Tableau Embedded.
Data platform experience — you have worked with data lake architectures and modern cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or Delta Lake, including data modeling, pipeline orchestration, and governance best practices.
Compliance and security knowledge – you have delivered offerings that adhere to government compliance and security concerns such as SOC2, FEDRAMP, FISMA
Integrations and API experience — you have owned APIs, integrations, data platforms, or internal infrastructure products, with hands-on knowledge of RESTful APIs, webhooks, ETL processes, data synchronization strategies, and API security best practices.
Educational background — you hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent hands-on experience.
Authorization to work in the US — we are not able to sponsor work visas or transfers at this time.
WHAT ARE THE ASSETS THAT WOULD MAKE YOU STAND OUT?
Government procurement experience — you have direct experience in procurement, sourcing, or contract lifecycle management within governments. Candidates without that background are equally encouraged to apply; we will help you learn the market.
ERP and integration platforms — you have worked with ERP and financial systems, or with integration platforms such as Workato.
Government sales support — you have supported government sales through RFP responses, security questionnaires, demos, and pilots.
YOU SHOULD APPLY IF:
- You want to treat integrations and data as a product in their own right, owning a platform that other teams and customers build on.
- You are drawn to the stage of this work, where a new Embedded BI offering and the data foundation for AI capabilities are taking shape.
- You are motivated by modernizing how public sector agencies and suppliers exchange data, in work that helps governments serve their communities.
WHAT WE LOOK FOR IN APPLICATIONS
We review every application individually and assess it on its own merits rather than screening for keywords. The most Impactful applications:
- Describe the products you have owned or shipped, who they affected, and the outcome, with numbers wherever you have them.
- When you name a tool, such as a cloud data platform or BI tool, add a brief note on what you used it to do, because a tool list alone says little.
- Specific detail about your outcomes and work tells us far more than a general summary of responsibilities.
WHAT DOES SUCCESS LOOK LIKE?
- By 3 months: you have mapped SOVRA's current APIs, integrations, and data lakehouse with engineering and the Data team, and published a data and integrations roadmap with defined success metrics.
- By 6 months: Embedded BI is in pilot, data-governance standards are adopted, and an integration health dashboard is live and reviewed in leadership sessions.
- By 12 months: Embedded BI is launched and adopted by customers, and the Datalake is a governed foundation that product teams and AI features rely on.
OUR INTERVIEW PROCESS
Our process is thorough and respects your time. Three conversations cover the substance of the role and how you would work with the team.
- Talent Acquisition screen
- Round 1 – Product Strategy
