About the GC Project Manager Role:

As a General Construction Project Manager, you will play a pivotal role in driving projects from inception through completion, ensuring all are completed on-time and according to contracted specifications. You will oversee project organization, budgeting, scheduling, and all phases of execution. Periodic travel is required.

Some of the things you will do as a GC Project Manager:

  • Review and thoroughly evaluate contract, project scope, and other hand-off materials to ensure comprehensive understanding of project details.
  • Identify and align with operational goals of the project and prioritize tasks accordingly.
  • Clarify any conflicting information in architectural and vendor drawings to ensure accurate understanding.
  • Partner with the Controller to ensure compliance with local/state business license requirements.
  • Requisition all necessary labor, equipment, and materials for the project while adhering to guidelines.
  • Conduct pre-construction meetings to ensure that all stakeholders understand project requirements and schedules.
  • Prepare progress billings and review invoices to ensure adherence to project budget and timelines.
  • Provide critical input for potential project options and prepare cost analyses to ensure successful project outcomes.

Some of the things we're looking for in a GC Project Manager:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree (4 year college or technical school) in Construction Project Management
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in construction management, budgeting, coordinating, and overseeing commercial and/or industrial full turn-key projects
  • 3 years' experience working with, writing, and issuing Owner and subcontractor contracts and change orders (from proposal to full execution)
  • Experience with taking full responsibility for effectively communicating expectations to the onsite superintendent
  • Knowledge of pre-engineered steel building structures
  • Good negotiation and presentation skills
  • Experience in communicating ideas, winning approval, and reaching resolutions with a variety of audiences
  • Knowledge of all sub trades for full turn-key projects, maintaining oversight during project phases
  • Highly proficient with ProCore as well as all MS Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, Project, etc.)
  • Computer proficiency and utilization of company communication tools.
  • Proficiency in reading construction drawings
  • Strong attention to detail and thoroughness in everyday project responsibilities
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Self-motivated with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and positive relationships, focusing on SPAN’s core values and exceeding customers’ expectations
  • Flexibility and adaptability to switch responsibilities as needed to meet clients’ demands
  • Ability to effectively investigate time-sensitive situations by partnering with individuals and exploring all options for timely and cost-effective solutions
  • Manage multiple projects at a time, i.e. ‘multi-tasking’ is required

Amount of Travel: Some travel for client meetings and site visits

Department: Construction Project Management

FLSA Status: Exempt

Grade/Level: Mid-Level

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday hours with occasional weekends and overtime

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in various weather conditions and at construction sites.
  • Capacity to lift and carry equipment and materials.
  • Excellent vision and hearing for on-site communication and safety compliance.

Work Environment:

  • Combination of indoor office settings and outdoor construction sites.
  • Exposure to loud noise and construction-related hazards consistent with construction sites.
