Spectrum Science is looking for a seasoned earned media leader who operates as both a strategist and a new business closer, someone who brings credibility into every room, instills confidence in every client, and elevates the entire earned media function.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a trusted, veteran advisor to senior clients, bringing clear thinking, calm authority, and perspective that signals “you’re in good hands.”
- Navigate complex, high-stakes client situations with confidence and composure, offering guidance that is both strategic and actionable.
- Act as a steadying force across accounts, someone who raises the bar without creating noise.
- Lead and support new business efforts with presence and polish, able to command a room, connect quickly, and leave a lasting impression.
- Translate earned media strategy into compelling narratives that win prospective clients and build long-term partnerships.
- Leverage deep, long-standing relationships with top-tier and industry media, including outlets like The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, STAT, Endpoints, and other key publications that shape our industry.
- Open doors, shape narratives, and position clients in the conversations that matter most.
- Serve as a go-to resource for both clients and reporters, grounded in a credibility and trust that has been built over time.
- Mentor and elevate staff, modeling best-in-class client leadership and media engagement.
- Step in seamlessly where needed, solving problems, removing friction, and keeping the engine running.
- Thrive in fast-moving, high-demand environments without becoming overwhelmed.
- Bring clarity and focus to complexity, knowing when to zoom in, when to zoom out, and how to keep teams moving forward.
Qualifications:
- 15+ years in earned media, with a strong track record in consumer, healthcare, biotech, or life sciences.
- Deep, enduring relationships with top-tier business and healthcare media.
- Proven ability to both win business and grow it, with a natural executive presence.
- A reputation as a calm, credible, and strategic counselor at the highest levels.
- Strong leadership instincts, while still shaping direction and outcomes.
- A low-ego, high-impact approach: confident, unflappable, and focused on what matters.
The anticipated salary range for this position will be $195,000-$225,000. Salary is based on job-related factors such as: years of relevant experience, qualifications and/or certifications. Spectrum reserves the right to modify this pay range at any given time.
